ntroduction
Congratulations on purchasing Herbal Medicine and thank you for doing so.
The following chapters will discuss the ins and outs of turning to natural medicine to remedy your illnesses... and provide preventative care! It is too often in these modern times that we reach for a bottle of prescription pills, or even over the counter meds, instead of sticking to what we know is natural and good for our bodies. Eastern medicine, off of which much naturopathy is based.
Many professionals today dismiss alternative methods as being entirely unusable. They also tend to make claims that eastern medicine does not do what it says it does or, even worse, it does not work at all. They could not be further from the truth, however.
We know what our bodies need. When you provide it with the nourishment it needs, you will not find yourself falling ill nearly as much. And when you do fall ill? You may normally go to your doctor, or the local pharmacy, to find something to help you. This is one of the biggest problems we face today. It is the removal of natural cures and medicine, forcing us to put money back into the pharmaceutical industry. Doctors and other prescribers push pills in order to get kick-backs
; meaning, the more they sell, the more they make.
There is not much of a reason for medical professionals, generally speaking, to want you to get better. That is not to say that all doctors are terrible people! In fact, most of them are just misled. We have known that these organic remedies work- we have been using them for thousands of years! There is a time and place for doctor-prescribed medication, but it should be far and few between.
I am going to lead you down a path to better health over the course of your entire life. In my book, I will teach you how to create your own natural remedies in the comfort of your own home. We will go over the ingredients you need, and how to get those ingredients. After reading, you will have absolutely no questions about treating yourself in a far more natural way. It can be scary venturing outside of the constraints which western medication puts on us. This is especially the case for anybody who is a parent and using these methods in conjunction with their child’s other treatments.
Make sure that you do always talk to your doctor, especially if there are underlying medical conditions. Eastern medicine is an amazing resource that will change your life for the better. However, there are times in which western medicine needs to be utilized.
There are plenty of books on this subject on the market, thanks again for choosing this one! Every effort was made to ensure it is full of as much useful information as possible for you to understand fully all aspects of this exotic spice.
Please enjoy!
Chapter 1:
What Is Herbal Medicine
This is a book which you may at first feel skeptical of. There is, after all, a lot of misinformation out there on the effects that alternative medicine can have. However, it is important to realize that this is the exact kind of medicine that we have been using since, well, the very beginning!
Before we had modern-day technology and medical science, we had to make do.
There are certainly some things to be thankful for with western medicine (anesthesia for surgery, for example), but it is not the cure-all that doctors want it to be. Western medicine leaves out quite a few details about the human body- spiritually, especially. It does not account for our body’s miraculous ability to heal itself if given the correct conditions in which to do so.
Herbal medicine is a naturopathic approach to both treating illness as well as providing preventative care. What this means is that, essentially, you are keeping yourself healthy, so you do not get sick in the first place. It also means that, should you fall sick for any reason, you can bring your body back to balance using a variety of purely natural means.
Herbalism refers to the study of plants, and the medicinal uses that they hold. It also refers to, of course, the practice of putting that knowledge to use. The idea is that the closer to nature we can get, the better. Plants already hold medicinal properties. By using the plant itself, instead of going through a pharmacy, you take in far more of the nutrients.
And, of course, those precious healing properties.
Different Types of Alternative Healing Practices
Most of the recipes I give to you have their origin in some area of practice which employs herbalism often. Many different Eastern philosophies suggest the usage of spiritually oriented therapies. It is important to have a little bit of an understanding of these complimentary practices which will absolutely be mentioned later in the book. These are some of the different therapies which are greatly related to herbal medicine:
• Acupuncture: This is an ancient practice that originated in China. Small needles are strategically used to target different pressure points. This is used to relieve pain, stress, and more.
• Aromatherapy: Calling candle lovers everywhere! If you are a fan of mesmerizing scents with a purpose, you will love this natural remedy. It involves using our
