    Me & Him 2 - Shavekia Layfield

    Prologue

D addy, no, Mikaya screamed as she walked in on her father beating her mother for what seemed like the hundredth time. She loved to go to school, but hated coming home to see her father wailing on her mother. She didn’t understand why he hit her all the time or why her momma would sit there and take it. Victoria never fought back. She would just cry and take blow after blow.

Mikaya was only six-years-old and her baby sister Takaya was only four. Mikaya kicked her daddy right between his butt cheeks as hard as she could. Ouch, that hurt. Little girl, go on now or else you will be next, he spat.

Mikaya didn’t take to kindly to his threats and responded, Hit me and I will kill you. I am not Mommy. Mikaya gave him a death stare as she walked over to help her mother to the bathroom. Mommy, you have to leave him. He is going to kill you. If you don’t leave, I will have no choice but to kill daddy.

Mi-Mi, you don’t talk like that. Daddy is just sick. He loves us and we love him, Victoria said as she cleaned her face.

No, you may love him, but we don’t. I hate him.

Hate is too strong of a word to use against your father. You are too young to hate anyone.

I am not too young to know that daddies aren’t supposed to make mommies’ faces bloody. Mikaya walked out of the bathroom and squared up with her father like a dude from off the streets. They stared at each other and neither blinked an eye.

If you were a man I would beat yo’ little ass, he told her.

If you were a man, I would still kill your ass. Mikaya walked past him like he didn’t exist.

Sam would never admit it, but he was afraid of his oldest daughter. She stood up to him like a man, and never once would she stand down. He could feel the hatred pour off of her towards him. Sam would take all of his frustrations out on Victoria, but when Mikaya would enter the room, he would cease. Victoria, on the other hand, loved both of her girls dearly. She knew what Sam was doing was wrong. Between the drugs, not working, the cheating, and the beatings, she should have left him a long time ago. She hated that her children were subject to their father’s violent tactics. But just like the most women, she thought that if she stayed with him long enough that she could change him.

Back in her room that she shared with her sister, Mikaya drew a picture of her killing her father. She hated him to his core and was determined to get rid of him to save her mother and sister. Even though Takaya was younger, she could feel her sister’s pain. She watched as her sister drew the picture. She didn’t like her daddy either, and followed whatever her big sister told her to do. Even if that meant pouring rat poison in his Kool-Aid before they gave him the cup.

Mikaya and Takaya! Victoria yelled. Give me that cup. Now look, what’s going on between your father and me is none of your concern. You will not plan and plot to kill him in my presence.

And when he kills you, I guess that will not be our concern either.

Smack! Victoria’s hand landed across her daughter’s face. You will not talk to me like that. Mikaya didn’t say word. Her eyes tried to fill up with tears, but she refused to let them fall. It was clear that her mother was in denial. She was not going to feel bad about trying to save her mother. But if she was blinded by love, then Mikaya decided she would get what she deserved. At the mere age of six, she decided that if you crossed her the wrong way she would kill you. And she was training her sister to grow up and think the same way.

    TRAVIS

Travis walked in the house and his mouth dropped. He couldn’t believe his eyes. There was blood everywhere and four dead bodies. Celeste was holding the girls, not sure what her next move should be. Travis looked over at Mikaya and the look in her eyes was too familiar. He could tell right off that this wasn’t her first kill and surely wouldn’t be her last. He knew he had to take both girls under his wings and train them up right.

Whether Mikaya and Takaya knew it or not, they were going to be groomed into the best hittas The Society had ever seen. The Maronis came in shortly behind Travis. It was clear that they were not new to this either. Travis was never a part of a clean-up crew. Typically, he did his hit and left the scene. He was glad to see that Celeste had the right people on their team. However, he made sure to watch them closely in this industry you could never be too cautious about anybody.

Baby, take the girls and we will finish up here, he ordered. But before she could respond, Tracy’s home phone rung. Everyone was silent. When the ringing stopped, the answering machine picked up. The look on everyone’s face read who still had a home phone and answering machine? But no one said a word.

Hello Tracy, this is Amanda. I forgot to ask you to sign your statement. I was calling back to let you know that I was headed back over to get that signature. I will see you in an hour or so, after I make another stop. Beep. All eyes went to Celeste as if she had the answers.

Do what we can and let’s get out of here, was all that she could say. She took the girls and left out the house. She had never seen such a horrific scene that was caused by two precious little girls. On the outside, you would never have thought Mikaya and Takaya would be capable of doing such a thing. But the look on their faces as they left the scene showed pure pleasure. They were both happy with what they had done.

The Maronis moved the bodies. They took each body and rolled them in carpet and placed them in the back of Tracy’s car. Then Tony Maroni drove the car away to dispose of the bodies. Patrick and Phillip Maroni stayed behind and cleaned any visible blood splatter. Travis did what he could to assist. They all hustled out within 45 minutes after Amanda’s phone call. Travis took the gun, wanting to keep is as a collector’s item. It wasn’t registered to him so it was a perfect piece to use in his next hit.

Travis made sure everything looked as normal as possible. The kids’ bikes and toys were left in the yards. Thankfully she lived in a house where there were not many neighbors. One may say working for Celeste had it perks. The neighborhood was new and developing, with only four houses complete in the cul-de-sac and only one family had moved in, and that was Tracy.

When they were done, he headed for home. His mind was racing and he couldn’t wait to have a sit down with the girls. It was rare to find them so young and pure. He could mold them and they would be female versions of him. That was a true deadly combination.

    AMANDA KESSLER

By the time Amanda arrived, they were all long gone and the house was locked up tight. She looked into the window and there was not a soul in sight. She called the house again and the answering machine picked up. She then tried her cell. Again, she was greeted with a voicemail recording. There was no need to leave a message, she was sure there was something wrong. Amanda stood clueless. She had no idea of where Tracy and the kids could have gone. They were just there about an hour and a half before.

Against her better judgment, she kicked the front door in. The smell of bleach hit her at the door. Amanda drew her gun and cautiously followed the smell up the stairs. She made it to the master bedroom and immediately knew that a murder had taken place. Even though the place was spotless, Amanda could smell death in the air.

She got on her phone to make some calls. She needed a warrant. Celeste Myers had finally messed up and she was about to charge her with murder. A creepy smile crept across her face as she hustled out of the house back into her car.

I got her, finally, Amanda repeated over and over. She almost danced her way all the way to the office. She was going to make sure this was her case and she was going to stick it to Celeste and get her sweet revenge.

Even though she hadn’t seen Celeste there at the house, Tracy had told her that she was expecting Celeste to come
