It's Sawyer's thirtieth birthday and Noah has promised to give him exactly what he wants. What Sawyer wants is time with Noah, and for Noah to keep the offhand promise he made on Valentine's Day: that if Sawyer wrote another song for him, he would sing on it.

Sawyer has written a song and intends to record it on his birthday, but Noah's uncertainty about singing in front of professionals gets in the way. Can Sawyer persuade Noah to sing despite his fears?

Twenty thousand people sang, while Sawyer hung an arm around Noah’s shoulders and sang into the microphone, grinning at him. When they were alone that night, Sawyer gave Noah a cupcake with a single candle, and sang to him again, soft as a whisper.

In the years that followed, they’d lavished each other with gifts and there were trips to the tropics or Europe — Noah’s preference — or parties with their favorite people — Sawyer’s favorite thing to do — but the best gift was time together. The presents and parties didn’t matter, not the BMW Sawyer bought for Noah, not the vintage instruments Noah gave to Sawyer, not the exotic vacations or expensive jewelry. Even if it meant one of them traveling for hours or both of them planning their schedules with precision, they were always together on their birthdays.

So when Sawyer said, Clear your calendar for the day. I want you, Noah cleared his calendar without question.

Once inside, Noah stopped in the front entryway where he
