    Noah Kingston set down his overnight bag on one hard plastic chair and himself on another, crossed his feet at the ankles, and stared out the tall airport windows. He could see airport personnel in their orange vests and yellow all-weather coats, and the vague outline of airplanes through the falling snow, but not much else.

    Every flight out of Columbus was grounded, and every flight that was supposed to land in Columbus was being rerouted somewhere visibility hadn’t been reduced to a few yards.

    It wouldn’t have been so bad, Noah thought, if it weren’t the day before Valentine’s Day. He hadn’t seen Sawyer for almost two weeks: Sawyer had been filming a video and then Noah had gone to Morocco for a photo shoot, and they’d just missed each other.

    They’d planned to be together on Valentine’s Day, their first since their engagement — and, yes, that made Noah smile in the goofiest way possible whenever he thought that — and do all sorts of romantic and indulgent things. Sawyer had alluded to blindfolding an orchestra and dancing the night away like something out of an old movie, but Noah hoped for something much simpler: dinner at one of their favorite restaurants, a walk along the canal behind their house in Venice Beach, and the right moment to give Sawyer
