Caroline tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep. She was exhausted, her muscles tingling with the soreness of a hard day’s training. Her cheerleading abilities had been impressive enough that she’d been able to get a scholarship for them, but she had to be able to make the team to qualify for it.

It had been a long day of tryouts, combining synchronized gymnastics with lung-busting shouts, and frankly, she was prepared to get some rest. She had been cheering since high school in order to overcome the obesity that had plagued her childhood.

The change in how boys treated her as the pounds melted off had come as a bit of a shock, and it had nearly caused her to stop doing it.
