The game was intense. Sweat, mud, penalties, and blood. A light rain began in the second quarter, but no one left the stadium. At halftime the score sat at 13 to 20, with Camden ahead. Then Jenny popped the bet.

“Looks like your boys are ahead,” she said as the light rain continued to drizzle on us. “So you need to take the riskier bet.” She grinned. “If my boys win, you’ll go to their locker room and offer yourself for their enjoyment.”

“What?” I nearly yelled. Thankfully, the crowd was pretty loud. “Are you insane?”

Jenny ran a hand through her wet hair and smiled wickedly. “No negotiating, Emma. You promised to agree to the bet, no matter what.”

I breathed out and nodded. “Okay,” I said at last. Then I wiped the rain from my face and turned to Jenny as the third quarter began. “But you’ll take the same bet. If Camden wins, you’ll be their locker girl after the game.”

Jenny took my hand and we shook on it. That was our first time actually shaking on a bet. Before now, all the bets were just in good fun, however crazy the antics. But this time it was different, and we both knew it.

There was no backing out now, no matter what.
