An Unexpected Affair - Angela Gray

    Chapter One

Excuse me, but can I get one more cream?

Absolutely. I handed the young lady a container of cream. I couldn’t help but stare at her and the young man she dined with. An attractive couple, they reminded me of a time when I was young and had an attractive young man in love with me.

Of course, this time of year always makes me lonely.

Addison? Westley, my new hire, shook me from my reverie.

    Yes?

I finished the kitchen; did you need me to do anything else before I go?

Ah, no Westley, thank you. You can leave.

He smiled, I told you, call me West. Westley gave me a cheerful smile which I returned. A young good-looking man, Westley is a student and young. Too young for me. Although I’m sure he’s melted the panties off woman my age before. I doubt there’s a woman he couldn’t have.

Please make sure the back door’s locked before you go, Westley.

He laughed out loud, Sure thing Addy.

I chuckled at his use of a nickname. Addison. I corrected him as he flicked two fingers in salute and walked towards the back room.

We did this nearly everyday. He asked me to call him West, I never did. In return he calls me Addy, and I tell him to call me Addison.

He likes you. Said the young girl who asked for more cream.

    Huh,

    He like, likes you.

No, he’s just an employee, besides he’s way to young for me.

Okay, but I still think he likes you.

She wasn’t the first person to make that observation. My other employees have had said something similar in the past. I always brushed it off. Although I am attractive and have maintained my fitness, I couldn’t fit in Westley’s league. Not possible. Hell, I was barely in his league when at his age. Back then, though, I wouldn’t have hesitated to acknowledge such a hottie. In those days, I might have pursued him. Not at this stage of my life. Now, I worry about my business. I’ve been down all the roads, have loved and lost. My divorce finalized just last week, making this the best holiday of all time. I spent ten miserable years married to a man who only loved himself. No kids. I wanted them. He didn’t. I could have them though, even at my age. I still have a few good childbearing years left.

Bye, Addy. Westley interrupted my thoughts

    See you tomorrow, Westley.

With his cocky grin and that dimple, I could have swooned. If I was that type, which I’m not. I used to swoon, now I work. He does, however, get a lot of tips and keeps a lot of ladies coming back.
