Chapter One

Callie Masters was over the moon when her dad agreed that she could go to Tanya’s Christmas party. This would be her first proper grown up event. Callie and Tanya were best friends and it had been a lot of fun putting the guest list together. Tanya’s parents were hiring a hall so everyone knew that this was going to be the party of the year.

As soon as Callie had received permission from her dad, her happiness turned to despair quickly. Callie’s dad didn’t have very much money to give her so she was unable to buy the brand new dress that she had had her eye on. It was a lilac coloured gown with thin shoulder straps. The gown was made from a delicate satin material and it was covered with sparkly diamantes. Callie had seen the dress in the shop window and when she tried it on, she knew it was perfect for the occasion. She had seen the price tag and knew that there was no way her dad was going to give her the money. Even Callie had to admit that it was quite expensive. Callie started searching for other dresses that were on the cheaper side but there wasn’t anything that jumped out at her.
