Prologue

It was fate, she thought to herself. After years of not catching a glimpse of him, she ran into a friend of his who remembered her. He remembered them and how it used to be. Who wouldn't remember them? They were the perfect pair. Everyone admired them as a couple and how cute they were together. One could only imagine how beautiful their kids would've been. Cupid did work wonders when he brought these two gorgeous people together. Him, tall and handsome. The perfect stud, rock hard abs and muscular arms. Her, the face and body of a model with her long brunette hair. She's a fool!, everyone thought when they found out what she had done...

She walked away from him convinced that he was an asshole and she had enough of his bullshit. He thought he was young and cool. He figured he could love her behind the scenes and treat her like crap whenever his friends were around. Oh no, not this time. She was right across from him and his crew. He was tongue swapping alcohol with a bimbo, a girl that played for both sides and screwed around with anyone just for kicks. He hadn't noticed her until it was too late.

Feeling betrayed and ashamed as he did this in front of both his friends and most of all, her friends. She walked over and pulled him aside, Mark, what the fuck are you doing?, she asked. What are you doing here? I thought you said you were going home., he retorted. His response made her want to slap him across the face but deep down she loved him and didn't want to make him feel disrespected. Go home!, he yelled.

That was it, the last straw or so she thought. You know what, you and I are through!, she retorted. All his friends stood still in silence staring at them. If you say so, were the words he said to her. The cold look in his eyes and sink of his dimples as he said it was what hurt her the most. Playing it cool, he walked away from her unbothered.

She held her head high and walked away. Even though she felt as if she got kicked in the chest, she had her dignity and she knew what she was worth. She was considered to be a unique beauty, well educated and a classy young woman. She had lost her way because she loved him dearly. What else could she do, he was her first love, the only man she had ever shared her body with. He was her first in every way, her first kiss, first fondle, the one who took her virginity.

Even though he tried to deny it, she learned later on that she was his first too. That's how big his ego was. She was young and clueless when it came to love and men. She had a lot of questions flowing through her thoughts as she walked away. The one thing that was clear to her is that she was over him. It was her first relationship and she thought that it would be that simple and easy to move on from someone that you love. His nonchalant attitude towards her had convinced her that it was over. She had no idea what was in store for her.

The bus was parked awaiting patrons to board away from the excitement of the football game. She had to take this bus to her stop as the taxis for her route were all gone. As she made her way up the steps of the bus, he caught her attention. Light skinned just like her, tall and handsome. He is so cute, she said in her mind.
