Chapter 1
The Transfer
Undisclosed Government Medical facility, Zurich Switzerland...
Mitch Hoffman, a terminally ill cancer patient, the father of Karl Hoffman, a very renowned Swiss German neurosurgeon, has been patiently awaiting this moment for ten long days. His time had finally arrived where he could, in total consciousness, leave his body, this physical entity that could no longer serve his needs. Mitch was being given this unheard opportunity to become the owner of a biologically-engineered body tailor-made for him. Mitch was in his present lifetime in his late 80’s. He was happy to make the change and start anew.
It was a chance of a lifetime to rejoin his family as promised with total confidence and complete safety. He had been guaranteed that he’d be free again. He agreed to the woman who would be the bearer of his new body. She filled all the requirements to be a surrogate mother in order to give birth to a very healthy baby boy. Mitch new body which would serve him for his return would be her last. She had successfully provided 4 other healthy babies to this medical facility. Mitch had his DNA, healthy stem cells frozen and his sperm and preserved in case of possible future miracles that might be presented to him as he had always wished to live longer than the average person. But it hadn’t worked that way for him. His cancer was terminal. Nothing could reverse his body’s condition which was deteriorating by the day.
On the plus side, this surrogate mother had been artificially impregnated with his sperm which meant his DNA. It meant that Mitch’s new male body had been pre-engineered to biologically become a duplicate of him.
The bearer of the child, the never to be mother of this newborn had willingly agreed to be blindfolded and have her ears covered so that she would never see or hear the baby after birth. A blue cloth covering was spread over the middle of her body in case the blindfold might accidentally slip. This was purposely done in order to avoid any emotional attachments or consequences.
One of Mitch’s daughters, Karl’s youngest sister was lying beside the woman ready to embrace the newborn following the delivery.
Before The Verve Clinic
, Karl operated an experimental project for a secret branch of the Swiss government whose interest was to research into and challenge death. Some of the brightest minds within the branch intended to tackle the matter and were hopeful of finding a method of completing detachment and reintegrating into a new human body all to be done on demand. What they were looking for was a very temporary short time in which there was a possibility of the individual leaving his body and obtaining in return the capacity of starting anew without prolonged waiting time. It had been studied and proven that this was the way spirits started over in the physical realm. The phenomenon of continual returns by spirits was no longer questioned by scientists. Evidence of past lives and transmigration of spirits had been claimed for centuries. Recent findings support what many had already realized and commonly called reincarnation.
The technical word used for this procedure was: Transfer.
As he had promised his father, Mitch, when the time came for him, Karl would be ready to make it happen. This section of the hospital was known only to a few. While this facility was in its early years, they had spent the majority of their time in experimentation and trials that have proven to be successful. It had become routine to administer the transfers to people who were willing and able to pay the price. The transfers were performed on patients of all ages. The medical team dealt mainly with the top echelon of wealthy people, those who could afford to pay big money. Karl had made very good money while working for this group and invested wisely. His intention was to use part of his savings for future personal career goals that he had coveted for some time.
While Mitch was exceptionally not being asked to pay anything by his son, money had never been a problem to him and knowing that he would once again join his loved ones and remain the owner of his past life fortune made his son’s offer absolutely irresistible. Karl’s parents were at first reluctant regarding the transfer but after some convincing and tangible proofs provided, they agreed that it was the way to go. Karl’s parents loved each other tremendously. They were both inseparable souls. Thinking that in a very near future, they would again share their lives was something they could not pass up. Mitch’s umbilical cord was to be frozen for his future use if he would be in need of stem cells.
All his papers were in order. His day had finally come.
Under watchful eyes, coordinating with his medical team ready for what was about to come, Karl finally gave his approval to start the process of the transfer.
- Dim the lights, said Karl.
The room lights were gradually turned off and gave way to the luminosity provided by the medical equipment and screens. Rays of blue and red were the sole sources of light in the room. Everyone then put on their state of the art thermal goggles to watch Mitch execute his transfer.
- We’re ready to proceed Mitch; Mitch, are you ready to leave?
- I am Karl, let’s do it, son...
Mitch’s 10 day waiting period was finally over. He agreed that this was the path to take. He fitted the requirements to make it happen and made himself eligible because he was, despite a lot of suffering, still capable of making decisions with respect to his health; he had a grievous and irremediable medical condition; he had made a voluntary request for medical assistance in dying that, in particular, was not made as a result of external pressure; and that he had given an informed and written consent to receive medical assistance in dying.
Mitch agreed to this medical assistance in briefly dying
. There was always a risk that something might go wrong but he was willing to take the chance.
As Mitch closed his eyes, an anaesthetist carefully injected a lethal dose of drugs that would soon end his life in this body. It only took a few minutes to see and hear as indicated by the monitors that his heart had stopped. Everything confirmed that he was physically dead
.
Following the confirmation Mitch would be ready for the next step; Karl then told him what needed to take place without delay.
- Mitch, I know you can hear me; it’s time to leave now.
Sitting in an adjoining room, Mitch’s family members were carefully watching the event unfold. They all heard Karl speaking to his deceased
father and witnessed the departure and new arrival of their loved one. They anxiously watched the whole event unfold on a big screen. Using the specially made thermal goggles, they all observed Mitch’s spirit. Mitch
