    THE KEY

    I want to tell you a story. My mother told me about it when we were having dinner. She narrated it to me on the third of January Twenty-nineteen- The year Buhari will be re-elected into office as president of Nigeria. I was still young then and the moon hid behind the clouds in the sky. It was shy after having a date with the sun who had earlier, brightened up my day.

    She said it was about a gubernatorial debate. It happened in the Kano State of Nigeria, during the time of Aminu Kano.  There was a candidate of the then PRP (People's Redemption Party) who was asked a question by the moderator.

    How many minerals do you have in Kano State? Can you list them and-

    The moderator never finished the question when the man cut in ( Let's call him Salitsu.)

    Salitsu caught in and said Ahahaghhh! They are there! We have a lot of them. Er. We have Coca-cola, Fanta, Sprite, and Mirinda, Pepsi, name them.

    Really? The moderator asked.

    Of course!

    The questions continued and other candidates answered theirs.

    Then again it was time for Salitsu to speak up.

    The question came like this Who is your running mate?

    Salitsu blurted out instantly You don't know Bakinzo. You don't know him? Haba!

    Yes, I do. I know him The moderator chipped in Bakinzo is your opponent. In another party

    Salitsu protested Ehen na! You don't know him? He has been running and chasing me up and down....

    Bakinzo was his opponent, not his running mate. Salitsu didn't know this fact.

    A third question came at the end of the session. The
