If These Walls Could Talk - Linda Wright
Chapter 1:
Jessi
Kelly I'm not asking my dad and step mom for any money, they already have their mortgage to pay off, and I'm a grown ass woman I can find another way to get the money.
I sighed as I flipped through the unemployment section in the newspaper, I know there's no other available job in New York but I've got to keep looking if I want to finish pay my student loans and my over-due rent.
Vanessa you've been going through the papers for the past hour now, there's no Available job in New York. I don't even know why you quit working at the club anyways.
Kelly sighed as she dipped her hand in the bowl of Doritos I had on my coffee table, she always called me by my whole name when she's frustrated with me. Kelly and I both worked at two different night clubs, I always refused to work in the same club as Kelly because she does more drinking and partying on her shift than when we go out to have fun. The only reason she still has her job is because she has sex with the club owner, and the only reason she's still there is because apparently he's a good lay, I'm sorry but I rather work in a club without Kelly, so she wouldn’t try to get me to party with her every night and then sleep with the boss to keep from getting fired.
You know why I quit, you just don't agree with me, just because Brian is, and I quote, 'Sex on legs & Drop your panties kind of guy' doesn't mean that if he calls me to an important
meeting and when I get there he wants me to bend over the table so he can fuck me in my ass, in exchange for a promotion, doesn't mean that I'll be ok with that. I know he's hot and everything but I still have some kind of respect for myself.
I sighed as she raised her eyebrow at me. I'm sorry.
I chucked as I raised my hands in defense.
Yeah, yeah whatever my self-respect flew out the window when I decided to have sex with Roger in the VIP room of the club while you were outside.
She said as she checked her messages on her phone. Roger wants me to call him, it's probably because he wants me to come to work early to help set up for the auction later.....you should come by we can hang a bit before my shift.
She said as she touched up her makeup, I never understood why Kelly even puts on makeup, her face was already Cover Girl ready 24/7 she has the same brunette that as mine but hers had more volume, she had perfect rosy cheekbones, with plumped pink lips which were perfect and she had the most to die for blue-grey eyes and to top that off she had a model figure, which she isn't afraid of showing off every one in a while. She picked up her phone and dialed a number, which I'm assuming is Roger.
Hey Roger wassup.... I'm at Jessi's.... Yea I know today is the auction but what's so special about it..... Shut the fuck up one million for fresh meat....
She stared at me and begun smiling like a bimbo, I started laughing, what the hell was fresh meat? And why the hell was it selling for a million, this one I got to hear. She continued so what's the deal? Who's gonna be there....What does Michael Galloway want there?... A whole year!! No wonder they're willing to pay all that money for fresh meat…. Alright I'll be there in ten, mind if I bring Jessi with me? Ok bye.
She blew out a breath as she hung up and just kept looking at me.
Okay weirdo what the hell is fresh meat?
I asked as I dipped my hands into the bowl of Doritos.
It's for a monthly auction Roger has.
Yeah what's up with that? You always mention this
auction but you never told me about it.
I asked. It's not like her to not tell me stuff so that was beyond weird.
Well that's where you come in, it's a umm…. Thing we do each month where girls who have financial problems, like yours, rent and student loans sign up to be auction off to filthy rich men for a certain amount of time for money to pay off their debt an....
Wait isn't this illegal or something.
No. I don’t think so, not unless the person is willing I think....wait before you say anything else let me tell you how you come in, well I know you know who is Michael Galloway, that man doesn’t even need an intro, so here’s the thing he’s having some problems and he needs a girl that’s willing to live with him and be his girlfriend for a year.
She gets up to leave and I follow right behind her.
So what does this have to do with me and my problems?
I still don’t get it, why would someone like Michael Galloway pay for a girlfriend for a year?
Well I was thinking maybe...you can sign up for the auction, I know you won't do it but it's your last option, you know I would help you if I could but I'm barely pulling through with these jobs and I hate to see you looking so worried and stressed out Jessi.
She said as we got into the car. We were startled by a knock on the window; it looked like the building's mail-man. I opened the door and got out the car. His eyes followed up and down my body, he made me feel uncomfortable in my white lace crop top and denim shorts.
Hey Ben, what can I do for yah?
I can tell it was something bad but I tried telling myself I was wrong.
The owner of the building told me to personally give you these two mails, I was about to bring it up to your apartment but I saw you leaving, so I thought I'd give it to you before you left.
He handed me the mail, smiled and left. I got into the car; Kelly drove out of the parking lot.
Kelly sighed as she spoke, look I'm sorry for being on your case before but you know I worry about you a lot and I'm not so jolly about you selling your body to a total hot, sexy billionaire for a whole year, it's the only solution to this problem an-
Fuck!!....This can't be happening….not today, why today??
This seriously can't be happening, an eviction notice. Seriously, and a freaking letter from NYU telling me I'm way overdue my payment process. I think I'm gonna be sick, I can't find another place to live in seven days!! What the fuck am I going to do Kelly?
I huffed out I seriously can't find a place to live in seven days in Brooklyn.
Jessi calm down... When we get to the bar you can talk to Roger about the auction and find out more about it, just promise me you'll keep an open mind about it okay?
I can't believe I'm actually going to consider this. What I'm going to tell my dad and step-mom? Okay I'll keep an open mind since I just got an eviction notice and a letter from NYU.
I sighed as I brought my head into my hands, I can't believe that I'm actually going to do this. The car came to a stop hey girly we're here, don't worry drinks are on me.
She smiled as she opened the door and got out of the car. I followed her as I brought my sunglasses down to my face, I didn't want Roger see me in a mess.
Chapter 2:
Jessi
My darling, why have you been away from me for so long, my heart can only take so much distance.
I spun around to be greeted by two strong arms warped around my body. It was Roger, he reeked of cheap cologne and sex, and I soon found it hard to breath.
Hey Roger my heart can't take all this pressure on it. So unless you want a lifeless body warped around you in like five seconds I suggest you let me go
, as soon as the words left my mouth he let go.
I'm sorry sweetheart but I was trying to make up for lost time.
He flash me a winning smile, every time I saw Roger I'm always fighting the urge to ask him if he's related to David Beckham, I know it's kind of weird but he has the whole sexy Soccer player look down, and he always knew how to dress to impress, his blue shirt and baby blue striped tie matching his eye color.
Sorry to break it to Roger but I'm not your sweetheart and I will never be.
I gave him my most apologetic smile.
Whatever you say girly, so what brings you here today?
He looks seriously interested in my answer.
Well Jessi's in some serious financial shit, like nowhere to live in the next seven days an overdue loans kind of shit so she came here for you to explain to her about the auction so she'll decide whether or not she wants to sign up. And don't worry she's fresh meat.
His eyebrows shot up.
Well isn't today just full of surprises, hmm fresh meat huh? This one is gonna be good. Come on ladies follow me into my office.
He led the way as Kelly followed him.
Will someone please explain to me what the hell is fresh meat
I ask as I tried to keep up.
Rarely used goods honey
Kelly threw over her shoulder as she begun to laugh. We came to a stop in front of a wooden door; Roger opened it and I steeped in taking in my surroundings. Having seen the bar outside, the office was no surprise. Opulent, masculine, and sophisticated; the floor was polished wood, the furniture sparse but beautiful, and all of it looked almost too old for anyone to actually risk using. Everything Roger could want was within reach, from a well-stocked bar to an end-suite to a small built-in wardrobe filled with pressed suits. I could probably have lived there and been relatively comfortable.
Please have a seat and make yourself comfortable.
He said as he poured himself some Scotch. "So what do
