    Chapter 1

Adam Rowe didn’t believe in mercy. That emotion got his father and brothers killed. He refused to make the same mistake. The monstrous wolf that shared his skin normally agreed with him but tonight, it told him to wait.

Better to get rid of enemies than risk them growing stronger and rising again, he reminded his wolf.

Weasel fell to his knees. Sweat coated his face, the front of his shirt. The other survivors of the Lunar Lunatics pack followed suit. Since Trigger, their old Alpha was dead, leadership fell to Weasel, their Beta.

I swear, Adam. Let the five of us go and we’ll leave your town, your pack, and your lands. I promise. Weasel begged.

It was stuffy in the tiny basement of the packhouse. Adam never intended to use this area of the house for keeping prisoners. The giant cages and chains existed for the werewolves in the pack who didn’t have full control of themselves during the full moon. At the very least, the space seemed to intimidate their enemies.

The Lunar Lunatics have a track record for breaking all their promises, Adam said dryly. He eyed the rest, the survivors of the pack that once threatened to take everything and everyone Adam had grown to care about.

The other Lunar Lunatics either looked scared, angry or desperate.

I’ll even sweeten the pot, make you a deal of a lifetime, Weasel said.

Adam wasn’t born in the town of Wolfden. He used to belong to a bigger city pack but moved here at an Omega’s request. Tim reached out to him in desperation because the Lunar Lunatics had taken interest in his town.

In the end, Tim and he didn’t work out. Tim moved out of Wolfden with his true mate, Blake. Adam couldn’t leave this town, not when his wolf and pack have already claimed this town as their territory.

Some of the werewolves who followed him to Wolfden had found their mates and started putting down roots, while Adam remained where he was. Lonely. Like something was missing in him.

Adam, let’s just kill them already, Willy, his second, said.

Adam flashed Willy a warning look. That silenced Willy immediately. Willy and he had grown up together. Willy was a good man at heart, but sometimes, he acted too hastily.

What do you think, Rob, Raine, and Katya? he asked the three other enforcers of his pack.

The Alpha ultimately made all the hard decisions but a good one learned to lean on others. Willy, Rob, Raine, and Katya followed him from their old pack when Adam decided toforge his own. He valued their loyalties and opinions.

Won’t hurt to hear what he has to say, Rob told him.

Standing next to him, Raine shook her head, clearly disagreeing with her brother.

I agree with Willy, Raine told him. Better to kill the rest of them.

He mentioned a deal, Katya said. If we end them now, we won’t be able to get any other new information.

New information? Adam, give them to me. I’ll make them sing, Raine told him.

What’s your offer? he asked Weasel.

The Beta turned pale at the sight of Raine licking her partially shifted left claw. Dominant males were dangerous. Dominant females however, despite being less physically strong, were more cunning and Adam always admired their capacity to improvise.

No reason to let these bastards keep on breathing but what if Weasel and his pals had lied about the five of them being the last surviving members of their pack? The Lunar Lunatics weren’t officially registered under the Supernatural Government Shifter Group Registry. They were a bunch of lawless rogues who liked to wreak havoc.

Our freedom in exchange for one Omega. An unsullied one. Sounds good, right? Weasel asked.

Adam stilled at those words. Rage bubbled inside him but he held it back, along with his murderous wolf. Weasel knew what he desperately wanted. The scummy bastard knew his bait worked.

Adam desperately desired offspring and Weasel knew he’d do anything to achieve his goals.

He’s of breeding age. Intact. Trigger acquired him right before he sent us to this war, Weasel said quickly. Trigger was saving him, planned to use him after we claimed Wolfden as our new territory.

Willy and Raine growled at those words.

But we lost and Trigger’s dead, Weasel said quickly. He’s all yours if you like.

Adam, can we take this conversation upstairs? Katya asked him, worried look in her eyes.

Willy and Raine looked ready to murder the rest of the Lunar Lunatics. Rob yanked his sister back and glanced at him.

He’s a virgin? Adam had to confirm.

He didn’t want second-hand goods and most Omegas previously owned by abusive dominant assholes were usually broken.

Absolutely. You can check for yourself. Devon’s brother, Donny, owes us money. Donny’s keeping him for us. Just say the word and I’ll have Donny bring him here.

Adam, you can’t possibly thinking about agreeing to this deal, Willy interrupted.

The four of them started arguing among themselves. Not good, especially in front of prisoners. Well. Whatever. Adam knew exactly what he wanted to do with Weasel and his pals. Before anything else, he intended to claim his prize.

Alpha, we should talk about this more, Rob said,
