About this ebook
WARNING: This book contains scenes of domestic abuse for dramatization purposes.
Dean Harvester has it all. He's the CEO of an award-winning real estate firm in Manhattan with a personal net worth of more than two billion. When he's not conquering the business world, he's sprinting on a treadmill in the gym, trying his best to deflect the attention of every woman who passes by.
He lives in an opulent world of isolation, silently longing for a deeper connection to … something.
Things are bound to change however when a timid and unassuming woman clutching a bible joins his firm.
At first, Dean sees nothing defining in Lilian, dismissing her as a bible thumper, but it doesn't take long before he senses something exceptional about her. She carries a quiet and natural beauty and her faith is unwavering, to his surprise … somewhat alluring.
Lilian doesn't act in the slightest like she's attracted to him, and she's missing all of his signals.
Dean's curiosity builds and his feelings deepen as he spends more time with her.
But she's trapped in her own dark world of pain, fearing for her life, and not seeing the way out.
With Lilian's help, he's ready to open up his world and be led back on the path of righteousness, and in turn, he and the Lord just might be able to help Lilian escape her own world of darkness.

The Billionaire's Path - Emily L. Scott
Chapter One
"L et the Lord hold you , and you shall not want." Lilian’s lips curved around the pastor’s words as she raised the glass of wine and cracker into the air. The cracker melted on her tongue as she drank the ‘Blood of Christ.’ Her eyes closed as the last few words of Pastor Gresham’s sermon washed over her, Those who walk with the Lord, have nothing to fear. We walk by faith, not by sight.
Lilian ran her hands over the smooth dark wood of the bench in front of her. Her eyes darted around the sanctuary. Families milled in and out. Men in their Sunday best pressed their hands against the small of their wives’ backs as they moved upstairs for Sunday luncheon.
Lilian ignored the tightness in her belly as her mind scrolled through the laundry list of things she’d have to do before Jared got home. Wipe down the counters. Perfectly time dinner to be sure it's still hot. Don’t talk too much, just make sure to talk enough.
Thank you, Jesus,
Lilian mumbled as she moved out of the sanctuary and into the main entrance. She did her best to keep a perspective of gratitude no matter how he was acting. She couldn’t let her faith waiver in the face of a man who was so unpredictable. Her faith had been, to him and recently to her, one of her best redeeming qualities. Jared said he refused to be with a woman who didn’t have belief in a higher power.
It's not like I’ve seen him on those benches since he was trying to impress me. She clutched her old purse close to her body. It was a ratty thing he’d bought for her one night, when he’d acted like he was in good spirits. She nodded at the pastor and his wife as she power-walked toward the front doors of the church.
Sister Lillian!,
the pastor’s voice rang out.
"God forgive me," she swore underneath her breath as she turned around and manufactured a smile to face the pastor. Pastor Gresham had a way of staring into your soul and plucking out the one thing that disrupted your spirit. The worst part was that he only needed seconds to do it. Pastor Gresham imperceptibly sniffed the air around her and said, I see you’re alone this Sunday. You know we have our class for couples, so the Lord can help you sort through any earthly issues.
Lilian held a hand up in front of her and said, No need, Pastor Gresham. Everything is fine, thank you for your concern.
Hmm,
he remarked, as his eyes drifted to the blemish just underneath her chin, the one she had tried to erase with makeup. We also have services; services for women,
he offered.
Pastor forgive me, but I need to go home and make dinner. Beautiful sermon today. I will be here next Sunday!
she said quickly as she turned and sprang for the open
