About this ebook
Young women are deeply dissatisfied with society's standards (and double standards). They want more for themselves--but sometimes they don't quite know what that more should be. That's where Miss Black New Jersey 2018 and Teen Vogue "It Girl" turned fashion writer Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien comes in.
Through her insightful comments on media, pop culture, and pervading cultural myths about beauty, fashion, and womanhood, Tarah-Lynn dismantles the messages that feed into the insecurities, fears, doubts, and guilt that young women experience today. She introduces them to an understanding of God as a loving Father and the King of all kings, who bestows upon his daughters a crown of love, worth, and power. And she shows them how to not only claim the promises of God but also walk purposefully in them as independent women (no prince necessary!) who respond to adversity with righteousness and authority.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5In a world full of harmful standards of beauty and womanhood, Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien offers a means of reorienting toward the truth. God loves each of His daughters unceasingly and desires her to embrace the fullness of her identity in Him. To help her readers do so, Saint-Elien offers great reminders of biblical promises, translating them into applicable takeaways for everyday living. I enjoyed my time with this book, soaking in all it had to speak to me on living out my true identity.I received a complimentary copy of this book and the opportunity to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review, and all the opinions I have expressed are my own.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5“As a King’s kid, you have the audacity to claim your inheritance and all God has promised to you. When you choose to belong to Christ, you become an heiress (Rom. 8:17) and receive all the promises reserved for Abraham’s descendants (Gal. 3:29).”Plainspoken and pragmatic, Tarah-Lynn Saint-Elien sets forth an emboldening and encouraging manifesto of sorts with her new book, “Claim Your Crown.” As she explains in the introduction, “Claim Your Crown thwarts the media’s misconceptions about beauty and womanhood while teaching God’s original intent. It delves into the recurrent insecurities, fears, doubts, and guilt young women face daily.” With a non-nonsense, conversational tone, she speaks directly to all of the young women who, in today’s society, face more pressure and challenges to their self-worth than ever before. So, what makes this book different from the scads of other self-help manuals out there? Faith in God. That’s where it all begins, and until we understand that, we will continue to stumble around blindly. As Revelation 17:14 tell us, Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords, and Jesus and the Father are one. Therefore, as Tarah-Lynn states, “You, queen, are automatically deemed royalty as a child of God. You are born with royal blood.” Every one of God’s daughters is a princess, with royalty conferred on us from the moment of our conception. Feeling less than anyone else is a lie from the enemy because we are royalty. Instead of focusing on what the world tries to tell us, we need to listen to the voice of our Father, the King, and suit up each day with God’s armor as we fulfill His purposes for us and speak life over those around us. Written for and addressing a young adult audience, Tarah-Lynn’s voice is very conversational and informal, addressing the reader directly. Because I am older than the target audience, this felt awkward to me at first, but it definitely presents a powerful narrative and would no doubt be perfect for those in their teens and twenties. Each chapter is titled, which I personally always find helpful in reinforcing the content, and ends with Kingdom Keys, which consists of a short summary of that chapter’s main points, and also a few Reflection questions to engage readers. This is a fun, inspirational book about serious topics, highlighting our regal status as God’s beloved daughters, and I highly recommend it for all young women, and even for those who are older but still need a reminder that they are preciously counted as princesses and queens in God’s sight.I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All opinions are my own.
