    About the Author

    Chapter One

The sky could be mystical or deadly, lethal or warm. Auburn turned to orange could paint any sky with a hint of peace worth lingering to gaze at but today it was not the sun caressing the sky that was on Aileen Ikard’s mind. Day after day she tried to convince herself that her head was in the right place when she made her decision but now she wasn’t so sure her head and heart weren’t at war with her realm of sanity. What was she thinking again?

Cobalt eyes stared right back at her from the mirror image refrigerator. So many things had hit her life hard. Her father’s death, her grave robbing sister combined with the history of her family drama and her code red that almost killed her and for sure killed her house was like that tip of the iceberg moment. Bad things came in threes; right? No that statement was not right it was dead wrong. Aileen thought when she left her civilian desk job at the Clear Waters VA hospital and got a design job at Code Black Security that life was looking up. But what goes up must come down and as her grandfather used to say to her mother never count your chickens before your eggs hatch.

Aileen wasn’t raising chickens but now more than ever she understood the words. Working for Code Black Security had been her ideal job and it felt normal until Parker Ranger, not ever to be called Park Ranger walked in with his midnight black with night white clouds eyes striking a lethal dose of silver-gray that couldn’t be denied, that deeply sharp jaw and nature sculpted body housed by the tight t-shirt set her mind into fantasy overdrive. His sun kissed ivory tinted natural skin set him above average, above good and far beyond spectacular. He looked like a legalized version of the bad boy of her dreams. She remembered having the get married now conversation with her best friend forever, Rashida Banks, and not loving the message. Marry the good guy next door. He has a world famous car, loads of money, he’s cute, she had paused. Not black but still cute and he seems like a nice guy. He’s the take him home to momma kind of man. Aileen had shivered. You’re looking for perfect like he’s magic. Forget dreaming of Genie, Rashida; I dream of bad boys. I want hotter than molten lava, sexy as sin the bad boy who would be willing to drop his pants and ride me hard no matter the location.

Rashida had puffed out a breath laced with shock. For a virgin you sure do have a dirty mind.

Aileen had shrugged her shoulders. Virgin in body, Rashida, not in mind. Seriously I want that. I’ve always wanted that bad boy I just never found one; not a legalized one anyway.

Rashida had laughed hard. He’s Columbian and Texan cowboy right?

Brazilian from his mother’s side and an Irish-Caucasian with a hint of Iberian from his father’s side. In my mind he’s sexy and confident in all shades.

Rashida mumbled her like of the looks described to her. I so have to get out of Montreal this year and come back and see this man…see what my best friend is getting into down there. You want a man.

Aileen had told her yes but that she would never find a man who could fit her sinful wishes and if anybody else who knew her knew she had those desires they would whip out every bible in the library to beat those feelings out of her. Of course her desires were so far from ever being able to be filled until Parker came into her life or more like she came into his.

Parker was her type on so many levels. She smiled, she jazzed up her skirts from below knee to minimum one inch above knee and her beautiful blouses from military cute to super sexy royal in every shade that complimented her desert sand skin tone. He loved varying shades of red in the hair—the redder the better and she so desperately wanted him to see her for more than just the computer graphic identification making expert she was and see her for a woman he could conquer and claim as hard as he wanted.

She made so many fake identifications for him and all she ever received was a hot smile with a simple thanks. Except when he had to sit with her to draw up the man he was pretending to be they had good conversations but then the red headed kick butt goddess would saunter in the room and his attention went to her. They were all red hair women tough, damsel, short tall heavy or skinny they were all red hair wearing natural or not.

God she wanted that man on every level. She wanted that tough walk into a room knowing he could destroy it all without breaking a sweat kind of man. The bad boy, her bad boy, was what she craved and he just happened to fit. I so need to get a boy friend, she shook her head at herself. Lonely never hit her mind until she realized all the things she had given up in her life and all the things she could never get back.

Aileen lowered her head looking at her still designer boot clad feet. She loved boots, but she had to admit she was wearing them in the heat of San Diego spring weather because they made her feel sexy as hell and she just thought maybe her sex appeal could wake Parker up and even if he couldn’t remember her inspire him to go in hard, deep and intoxicatingly addictive on
