Chimera Von Goth sat in position on the soft ivory and black blanket perfect for the small space of floor she had for using among the other eight pregnant women sitting on the floor in the softly lit with ceiling high crescent crystal glass shaped windows shackled atop long faux oranges and Italian cream faux marble walls. The place was all about the life of mothers and those on the way to being mothers but it was also for rich people, people who could afford the faux luxury environment. It wasn’t real marble on the wall but the place was so top of the line ritzy nobody would even notice the slightly off color of golden auburn paint that should have been smoothed down into the ivory on the west end of the wall under the window better—nobody but her she would guess.

The thing about this room—the Prenatal Training—room was that it was, and should have been more of a pre birth training title because all they were really talking about was how to push something the size of a watermelon out of a hole the size of a chia seed. Sure there had been some interesting facts given on breastfeeding and bottle feeding, changing diapers and buying designer baby clothes but Chimera was getting so bored with this thing they called being patient. She had taken the money, she had signed the contract, she had paid off all her mother’s bills and her mother had taken all the left over money to Vegas with her deadbeat boyfriend—the one she said she left—and they lost all the money. Her mother had sold their home too. Technically the home was her mother’s home but it was the home she had grown up in when their family was a real broken family. She didn’t want a baby because babies just mucked it all up or they got stuck with crappy grave robbing siblings and far too lonely to be happy parents. No baby making was not on her to-do-list but when she sat down with Danish-American far too wealthy to be a legal business man Dane Nielsen and his wife Georgia when she responded to their call of her being picked as the woman to have their child she never intended to do it. Why she responded to their call when she hadn’t applied for this mothering job in the first place was a question she should have kicked herself in the head for not asking. No she just dressed nice and comfortable, met them in their home and listed to the have our baby—your egg and my husband’s sperm stuff.
