Chapter Fifteen

You have to hurry. I need you to tell Harold I love him.

Logan bolted upright, glancing around wildly. He tried to find Kenny—he knew the man had been standing right next to their bed. Logan had felt his presence not just in the room, but deep into his dreamless state.

It was as if Kenny had stood close to them, leaned forward and whispered those words into Logan’s ear. They were burnt onto Logan’s mind, making him want to jump out from under the covers, get dressed and head out to Eureka.

What’s wrong, honey? Dawson’s sleep-filled voice washed over him, easing Logan in a way nothing else could’ve.

I think Kenny was just here, Logan said, barely whispering the words.

Dawson pushed up on his elbow to meet Logan’s worried gaze. What makes you say that? Did you have another dream of him dying?

After shaking his head, Logan shoved his hands through his hair then stopped to tug on the ends for a moment. No. I wasn’t dreaming about anything. All of a sudden, I heard Kenny say that we have to hurry. That he needed me to tell Harold that he loved him.

Rubbing Logan’s shoulder, Dawson seemed to be thinking,
