Bailey Bradford

A native Texan, Bailey spends her days spinning stories around in her head, which has contributed to more than one incident of tripping over her own feet. Evenings are reserved for pounding away at the keyboard, as are early morning hours. Sleep? Doesn't happen much. Writing is too much fun, and there are too many characters bouncing about, tapping on Bailey's brain demanding to be let out. Caffeine and chocolate are permanent fixtures in Bailey's office and are never far from hand at any given time. Removing either of those necessities from Bailey's presence can result in what is known as A Very, Very Scary Bailey and is not advised under any circumstances.

Part Three in the Yes, Forever Serial

From zero to sixty in record time—well, it’s really from no man to two in a matter of days, and it’s got John’s world turned upside down!

Confused and angry, John goes home after an odd encounter with an older man. He’s pretty sure he didn’t like it, exactly. Maybe. Benji seems to have moved on, and John knows he should too, but he can’t stop thinking about the contradictory man.

Finding another note from Benji doesn’t help. John knows he’s made mistakes, and he’s learning that he has been lying to himself for years. Slowly, he realises there are things he has to admit, and change.

First, though, he has to talk to Benji. John won’t have any peace until he and Benji make some sort of peace. If his heart is telling him he truly wants something more, John doesn’t see how that can work, not when Benji makes it clear he’s interested, but only in a part of John.

But John can’t give up, something about Benji calls to him like no one else ever has.

    Chapter Seven

John stared at the note for several minutes, his mind racing with conflicting thoughts. He hoped it was an attempt from Benji to perhaps be friends—and he hoped it was Benji telling him to fuck off and get on with his life.

It took an inordinate amount of willpower to make himself move. John shut and locked the door, then set down his briefcase. He bent and picked up the paper. It felt soft and carried the same scent as the first one. Did Benji spray the damn things with his cologne, like John had seen women do in old movies when they wrote love letters?

Is this a love letter? His fingers shook slightly and he stood. The urge to hold the note to his nose and sniff had him instead tucking it away in his shirt pocket. He was the one who was in control, not his emotions.

John picked up his briefcase again and went into his bedroom. It was stupid to think Benji had written anything other than a fuck-off note when John had just seen him with that guy, the kisser.

He put his briefcase beside the bed then kicked off his shoes. He felt grungy, and wasn’t sure if it was an internal or external sensation, but thought a shower was in order either way.

The note—John couldn’t keep pretending he wasn’t dying to read it. He took it from his pocket and carefully unfolded it, as if something harmful might jump out at him from beneath the layers. Stupid, he knew, but then it occurred to him that for some reason, Benji did have the power to hurt him. How and when had that happened? More
