About this ebook

I just set up the love of my life with another man, and now I can't stand to look at either of them.

The love of my life just set me up with another man, and now I'm certain he'll never want me the way that I want him.

I'm trying to move on, but seeing her with someone else just makes me want to make her mine.

I'm trying to let go, but I can't stop wishing I could be his.

Kat: I've wanted to make Dean Lycaster mine ever since my big brother introduced us, but I was just a kid back then, so he's always seen me as nothing more than his Navy buddy's little sister. When he sets me up with another man, I decide it's time for me to grow up and leave my childish obsession with Dean behind.

But then one kiss changes everything.

Dean: I've never wanted anything more than I want Kat Adams, but she's my Navy buddy's little sister. I promised I would look out for her whenever he's away on a ship, and that's what I intend to do. I can't make her mine no matter how much I want her, so I set her up with someone else and decide to finally let my obsession go.

Too bad my heart is refusing to listen to my brain—and my lips aren't behaving either…

Her brother is going to kill me.

(This is a short, steamy romance,)

Promise me you’ll leave the house once a week, Pete said, pulling me into a hug.

My brother never left without getting a promise like that out of me.

I’ll leave the house at least once a week, I agreed, but I didn’t promise to do more than grab the mail before rushing back inside.

And you, Pete said as he released me, turning to his best friend, Dean. Promise me you won’t let her hide away in this house while I’m gone.

Dean looked to me as a smile brightened his heart-stoppingly gorgeous face. Don’t worry, Mr. Adams, he said, like a guy who was picking a girl up for her first date, and reassuring her father that they’d be home by ten. I promise you Hermit’s not going to be a shut-in while you’re gone. Not on my watch. I’ll get her out of the house no matter what—even if I have to pick her up and carry her.

I snorted and rolled my eyes at that, although, secretly, I hoped he was serious. It had been years since Dean held me in those muscular arms that had biceps bigger than my head. Back then, Dean had called me Sweetness, before I got too old for the affectionate nickname. Now he just called me Hermit, and it left me wanting better days. The days when my feelings for him weren’t complicated. When I would curl up in his arms and feel warm and safe. When being alone with him didn’t feel weird because I couldn’t stop picturing him dropping down to one knee to ask for my hand in marriage—or
