About this ebook

Empowerment is external; it is power others give to you. Self-empowerment is internal; it is the power you give to yourself. The only way to obtain the life you desire is to empower yourself to achieve it.

Self-reflection is key to understanding yourself. Once you understand who you are and why, you can better empower yourself to achieve the life you want. Once you empower yourself to become the person you want and to have the life you desire, you can accomplish it.

In this third volume of "52 Weeks of Wisdom, A Woman’s Guide to Self-Empowerment," Susan L. Farrell provides 52 additional short stories to encourage you to reflect upon yourself, your thoughts, your actions, your choices, and your life. Whether you read one topic per week or the entire book in one sitting, it will help you understand and empower yourself.

Topics include:
•Find a New Balance
•Sometimes Good Enough Is Good Enough
•Self-Limiting Belief Systems
•Show What You Know
•Facts and False Conclusions
•We See What We Expect to See

No matter where you are in your journey of self-empowerment, this book will assist you in reaching your destination.

    52 Weeks of Wisdom, A Woman's Guide to Self-Empowerment, Volume 3 - Susan L. Farrell

    Welcome to the eBook

    (Please Read This First)

Thank you for purchasing the electronic version of 52 Weeks of Wisdom, A Woman’s Guide to Self-Empowerment, Volume 3. In the paperback version of this book, I included a Notes section after each segment with the intent that the reader could write notes to help her interpret what the information meant to her and what she wanted to do.

That does not work so well with an eBook.

Even though there are not Notes sections in this version, I recommend that you take notes anyway. You can write your thoughts in a journal, tablet, computer, or whatever works for you.

I hope the information in this book encourages you to think about what you do, why you do it, and do you want to change.

    Foreword

I met Susan years ago through a women’s networking organization. I was drawn to her positivity, energy, and enthusiasm. What I appreciate most about her is that she practices what she preaches. She lives her wisdom.

Susan has done it again with her 52 Weeks of Wisdom, Volume 3, another great book with wonderful insights and hands-on examples on how to live a more self-empowered life. I can relate to her teachings. The work I do revolves around helping my clients find their happiness from the inside and realize their power is within them. Susan and I clearly have a similar philosophy about the importance of owning your choices and your happiness.

Often, I have found that personal development books can be preachy and inaccessible. Susan in her writings gives real-life examples, which make each bit of wisdom very accessible—each action is easy to understand and implement. I love that you can absorb this book piece by piece in a way that will serve you.

Taking control of your life and your thoughts and your actions is the best way I know to create the life you imagined, and Susan does a great job in her third volume of giving you a guide to get there. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

    Introduction

Welcome to Volume 3 of 52 Weeks of Wisdom, A Woman’s Guide to Self-Empowerment.

Wow. I always knew there would be a second volume; I wasn’t so sure about volumes beyond that when I started this series. I’m happy that Volume 3 is here, however, and I hope that you enjoy it.

If you have read the previous volumes, then you know that there are different ways to read this book. I recommend that you read one chapter at a time. It does not have to be in order. Pick those chapters first that speak to you the loudest. After reading each chapter, reflect upon what it means to you. Is there something in it that indicates to you that you want to make a change in your life? There is room at the end of each chapter to write notes on what you want to do with these new insights.

Or you can read the book in sections, in one sitting, or whatever you like. It’s your choice.

Whichever way you decide to use this book, I hope it will give you insights on not only what you do, but why you do it. I hope it will give you insights on who you are and who you want to become. It’s only through self-reflection that we can learn what we need to do to become the person we want and to create the life we desire.

    1. Self-Empowerment

Empowerment is external, self-empowerment is internal.

In the first chapters of the previous volumes of 52 Weeks of Wisdom I have spoken on self-empowerment. I think that is an excellent starting point for this volume as well. If you have read the other volumes, I encourage you to still read this chapter. It’ll be a good reminder.

Empowerment is when someone has power, permission, and/or authority to do something. This often comes from outside the person. For example, our customers might empower us to do certain work for them. We might empower others to make decisions for us. Laws might empower women to have more equality in the workforce.

Self-empowerment comes from inside of us. It is when we give ourselves the power, permission, and/or authority to do something. This might be to become the person we want or to create the life we want. We have the power within us to create what we desire. Often what stands in our way is ourselves. We might not think we have the power within us. We do. We
