    Prologue:

    Catching up

It’s 3.30pm on Monday, the 26th of January, 2009, today would’ve been the first day of school for me but instead I’m in Hawaii with my family on vacation, I wonder how things are going over there.

Alex, your Swipe is ringing, looks like it’s Lizzy says Amelia, my sister.

Thanks Amelia, I’ll go get that I say, heading over to my computer and answering the Swipe call, Hey Lizzy! I was just thinking about you

Elizabeth Gotthold, or Lizzy as I like to call her, is my girlfriend of nearly two years, I told her before I left not to worry about me but she’s been calling me every single day I’ve been here!

Aw, that’s so sweet, just thought I’d call you and check on how you’re doing says Lizzy.

I’m doing pretty well, how are you? Have I missed anything important? I ask.

Well considering you’re literally on the other side of the world I’m doing pretty well, as for anything you’ve missed, only that you’ve been re-elected class leader, as have I, oh, and the new eTablets were just delivered, but we’ve been told to wait until you return to activate them, the school wants every IT hand on deck to assist with the deployment says Lizzy.

The eTablets – or eTabs for short – are the new eLearning tool at Lisa Hills, due to me being so good with technology I was given a test model and made part of the school’s IT team, I handed in my test model at the end of last year as I would be receiving one with the rest of my class.

I figured the school would want that, you can start unboxing and pre-allocating them now though, just keep them in the CL office and set the effective date to the 30th so they can’t be used before I return I say.

Yeah that’s what Jaime and I are doing now, I convinced Ms Janson to appoint her our timetable manager, she’s also our eTablet fleet manager says Lizzy.

Wow, just transferred and already she’s had stuff thrown at her, I might just ask her to defer to me on all eTablet matters, seeing as I am part of IT after all. We wrap things up about half an hour later and then we head out for dinner.

    Chapter 1:

    Coming home

It is 9.30pm on January 29, 2009, I have just returned from a nice relaxing vacation in Honolulu with my family, we left the airport half an hour ago and they are driving me back to school, or rather, to the student residences at school, we’re about to reach the Support Unit Residences, waiting outside for me is one of the aides, Mrs Brush, and the co-ordinator of the Support Unit, Mr Folder.

Good evening Moorie says Mr Folder.

Good evening to you too, sir I say, SCHOOL MUM!

SCHOOL SON! screams Mrs Brush, who I usually address as School Mum.

    I run
