School Life… The story so far

Author’s note: This part of the book acts as a summary of what has happened in the series so far, if you already know what has happened in the previous book you may skip this part.

Hi reader, my name is Elizabeth Gotthold, the main character of School Life 2: Alex, the Open Night, and the spy girl, and before you ask, no, I’m not the spy. Well anyway, I’m here to give you a quick rundown of what happened in the last book, just in case you haven’t read School Life yet, which I strongly recommend you do!

So the book started off with my enemy-turned-boyfriend Alex preparing to leave his sister’s friend’s mother’s house for his first day of high school, he caught up with Mr Davin, our year advisor, and met Mr King, our PE and Sport teacher, and Ms Wine, a HSIE teacher who Alex sees as a mother of sorts. That’s really all there is to chapter 1.

Chapter 2 is when things really start to heat up between Alex and I, no, not in a romantic way, quite the opposite in fact! My best friend Ellen makes her entrance here and gives Alex some advice that surprisingly helps us become closer, we stop referring to each other by our surnames and start using legal names. Oh yeah and we also get to know each other and I learn that Alex has Epilepsy.

Chapter 3, oh boy, chapter 3 is a chapter Alex and I would rather forget, we were elected class leaders of our class and, well, needless to say neither of us were happy about it!

In chapter 4 Alex and I were brought closer… by a medical emergency… involving Alex, yep, he had a seizure. But on the upside, I got to be the main character in this chapter!

Chapter 5 began with Alex in the hospital, he absolutely hated it, so to cheer him up, I decided to skip school and visit him, I told him that I now consider him to be a friend, as such we started calling each other our nicknames, I started calling Alex, well, Alex, and he started calling me Lizzy.

Chapter 6 was pretty much just us killing time while Alex got over the departure of one of his close friends.

Chapter 7 was when Alex and I officially became boyfriend and girlfriend.

Chapter 8 was the annual class leader’s summit, and also the first time Alex and I watched a sunset.

In chapter 9 we learned that our class would be moving to a new residence, so obviously our whole class rushed to get everything packed, and Alex and I also learned that we would be getting a new helping hand, this came in the form of a girl named Hayley, who would become our new residence manager this year!

In chapter 10 I met Alex’s family, his mother, Helen, his father, Sam, and one of his sisters, Amelia, were all very approving of our relationship, his other sister though, well, let’s just say she’s watching me like a hawk.

After New Year’s my parents left the country for work and Alex moved in with me, we decided that he should stay in a separate room, reason being is that not only does he snore surprisingly loud for a 13-year-old, we also question the legality or even morality of a 13-year-old male sleeping in the same room as a 12-year-old female.

Now, enjoy School Life 2: Alex, the Open Night, and the spy girl, and again, I’m not the spy.

    Chapter 1:

    Welcome to 8W

It is the 15th of January 2008, Alex and I have been living together for about two weeks now, and so far, things have been fantastic, well, aside from the fact that I can hear him snoring even through the shared wall between our separate bedrooms

Lizzy, I swear I don’t snore says Alex.

Trust me Alex, you do I say.

    Hey, wait a minute…

Stop breaking the fourth wall you! I say

So anyway, it’s about one week until all class leaders have to return to school for pre-year prep, so today Alex, myself, and Hayley; our new residence manager, are going to visit the 3 people joining our class this year.

Alright now Alex, do you remember the names of our new classmates and where they’re coming from? I ask.

Yes, Eve Lara-Temple, who is transferring internally from the G class due to us losing Eve O last year, Jade Essex, who is moving from the United States and is Hayley’s cousin, and Kathlyn Waving, who is transferring from Porthaethwy High as she has been expelled from there due to numerous incidents of truancy says Alex.

Well, he got 2 out of 3 right.

Close Alex, but it’s actually Caitlin Waving, and she didn’t get expelled her parents voluntarily agreed to transfer her to Lisa Hills as part of an attendance correction plan put forward by the Department of Education I say.

Hey, state-suggested ACP transfer, expulsion, what’s the difference really? he asks.

"Well in the case of expulsion she would only be allowed to re-enrol in a public school with the approval of the courts, state Minister for Education or the Department
