Author’s Note
Many of these poems were written during difficult times in my life, or as reflections of situations that are present in the world today. The contents of this book, while touching on some darker notes and aspects of life, are not intended to slander anyone. Nor are they meant to promote self-harm. Rather, it is my hope that these struggles might be ones that can be related to. And that perhaps, someone who’s fighting similar battles might also find the strength to carry on and rise above.
A Voice In The Wind
Some reflections on the struggles of a parent, when trying to make the world understand the difficulties their child faces in an intolerant world.
Bitter wails, a gust.
Perceived as nothing more, than an annoyance.
The whipping of hair, brushed out of a face.
Ignored, regarded as a child’s tantrum.
Discarded, trash... the undesired truth.
Words no one need hear.
Lest they make the ears bleed.
Angry howls, a hurricane.
Outcry for justice unanswered, and concerns unaddressed.
Avoided, conflicts... out of fear,
of being swept away.
Not wanting to take an unpopular stance.
A mother’s plea, a whisper.
A voice in the wind...
Listen, Would You...
Listen, would you?
Only a moment of your time, please, I ask.
To be answered with but a cold lingering silence.
All I ask is just a minute, a second if you will...
Still, you refuse me.
Bringing me further into darkness,
rage burns within my heart,
though I mean you no disrespect.
What about my feelings?
Wherever did my thoughts go?
Why must you invalidate my every word?
Only a moment of your time, please.
Listen, would you...
End the silence,
