Let me repeat to you a story that I recently heard. It’s a story of trust and betrayal, of the loss of most everything, and of an inspiring struggle for survival. A tale of a desperate assassination hatched in the very midst of people loving people, and the unappreciated redemption of most everything.

Woah, sorry. That got needlessly literary didn’t it? Funny, I was recently teasing a friend about that tendency when telling a story. (OK, I only knew him for less than a day… but still… friend.)

From here on I’ll try to keep it, Just the facts, Ma’am. Do you get that? The old cop show, Dragnet?

Sorry, again. I know lately I’ve let myself get paranoid about my references not landing as they should.

We see people suddenly appear out of nowhere all the time on TV and in movies. But when it happens in real life it freaks you right the hell out.

One was wearing what I took to be a hazmat suit, although there was a belt with a boxy device with controls. The suited guy was gripping some kind of rifle which the other guy seemed determined to wrench away from him.

The hazmat helmet came off in the struggle and I could see the man’s face now. Long, thin features. Blond hair, currently matted against his sweaty scalp.

Then the strangest thing: Right in the midst of this furious struggle he looked up and around at the sky, and at
