My Favorite Semons - Carolyn W. Mitchell

    Foreword

In June 2018 Carolyn W. Mitchell reached out to me for assistance in publishing some of her writings. There was an instant connection with her beautiful spirit, and I have been her literary consultant since. I was very impressed with all the information that she had already completed. She is now on her 5th book and it is one of my favorites.

Carolyn is an anointed woman of God who spreads His message of love, hope, and peace with everyone blessed to meet her. Being in ministry for over 26 years helped build the foundation used to share the Word and write this book. She is very humble and gives God the glory in everything she does.

In My Favorite Sermons, you have a chance to look into the window of her relationship with God. Carolyn doesn’t just present different messages, but she uses scripture to connect all of the individual pieces. I pray that as you read this book you get an understanding of who God is and the impact He has on Carolyn’s life.

    Introduction

This book is just a small collection of some of the sermons I had the privilege of delivering during my 26+ years of preaching and teaching the Word of God. There are many more, and perhaps one day I will have the opportunity to share some others with you.

In early 1990, under the unction of the Holy Spirit, my husband left the church we were members of to establish a ministry. It was a difficult undertaking. So many of our friends did not understand, and some thought my husband had mistaken the call. Many ministers inherit a ministry that has already been established, but in this case, the ministry had to be grown from the ground up.

Like many new ministries, we started with Bible study. We did not have a building nor did we have the finances available to rent one let alone purchase one. Therefore, Bible study was held in our home.

Eventually, the group grew in size, and a building was necessary. We found a small storefront with an affordable monthly rent, and Victory Temple Ministries, Inc. was established under the Pastorship of my husband. I had many responsibilities including teaching Wednesday night Bible study and occasionally bringing the Sunday morning sermon.

Finally, I did acknowledge the call on my life to preach, and although I had stood before the congregation on many occasions, my official introductory sermon did not occur until 1992. The title was Prepare for Battle: The War is on! I have included it in this collection. I preached some of these sermons as the guest speaker at various churches and at different women’s conferences. I felt very humbled and honored to be trusted to speak to God’s people.

It is my heartfelt desire that these sermons will be inspirational and encouraging to you, that perhaps they will renew your determination to resist the devil, and that they will stretch your faith far beyond what you thought possible. Whatever is gained in the writing of this book is to God, and I give all glory to Him.

Remember that God loved us enough to give His Son as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins so we can live forever.

    Romans 10:13-15

    13) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    14) How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

    15) And how shall they preach except they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things.

    2 Timothy 2:15

Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

    2 Timothy 4:2

Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and doctrine.

    Tell Them I Love Them

    Matthew 25:34-40

God has given us a mission to accomplish. It is a mission of love. The word mission as defined by Webster's Dictionary is a sending out or being sent out with authority to perform a special duty. It also is any charitable or religious organization for doing welfare work for the needy. When I think of this definition, I also think of the Great Commission given by Jesus in Matthew 28:19-20. The Lord told the disciples to Go... The word commission is closely related to the word mission in its meaning. A commission is an authorization to perform certain duties or to take on certain
