    The 80/20 Pareto Diet is based on an Effectiveness Principle known as the Pareto Principle, applied successfully in every field, from Business, to Economics etc. In the 80/20 Pareto Diet you alternate cycles of fasting and nutrition on a daily basis, instead of the 5 small meals a day model, which, on the contrary, constantly keeps the body in a state of hyper-feeding. The Pareto Diet is a nutritional model rather than a typical diet, and does not include any restrictions on which foods to eat, but rather on when to eat them.

    In order to understand how great and effective this diet is (which is not a typical diet but a nutritional model), and why it’s dedicated to Pareto, an economist of the last century, we must illustrate the homonymous and universally known principle from which it takes its name: the Pareto Principle, meaning the 80/20 rule.

    The Pareto principle, as we can read from Wikipedia, is a result of a statistical-empirical nature that is found in many complex systems that have a cause-effect structure. The principle states that about 20% of the causes cause 80% of the effects. These values are meant as qualitative and approximate. It takes its name from Vilfredo Pareto (1848-1923), one of the major Italian economists and sociologists, and finds application in a surprising multitude of fields and disciplines.

    In just a few simple words, this Principle states that in order to achieve 80% of the results, only 20% of the efforts, or specific actions for that particular result, must be carried out and leave out 80% of the unnecessary and useless actions that waste time, effort and maybe cause a decrease in motivation because they stand in the way or delay the results.

    The nice thing is that this rule, which guarantees a high degree of effectiveness with minimum effort, is applicable in almost every field and area of life. If you can identify those specific actions that represent 20% of the Principle, you can reach 80% of the results.

    The principle, although it is theoretical, can be easily found in reality and in every area of life: from business, to sports, to personal relationships, up to the Diet or to a style or dietary model that guarantees not only a fit body but also a higher level of health (oh yes! Even a smarter and more intelligent mind, as we will examine in detail when we’ll address the neurotrophic benefits of this nutritional model).

    In order to apply, specifically, the Pareto Principle to a diet, weight loss and psychophysical wellbeing, it is necessary to translate the 80/20 Pareto Principle to the diet or to the diet that must be followed to achieve the greatest efficacy in less time and with the least effort. I am not afraid to challenge here, in terms of effectiveness and guarantee of success, any other diet or nutritional model (Zone diet, ketogenic, low carb, Atkins or whatever). Even if this statement might seem exaggerated or excessive, I only ask you to keep on reading the physiological and biochemical principles on which it is based (with noteworthy scientific studies which it refers to), but most of all to put it exactly into practice for at least two or three weeks (the time necessary so that everyone can see the results for themselves).

    Back to the 80/20 Pareto Principle being applied to the diet, it is extremely important to limit the time in which we eat within the day to about 4 hours, leaving the remaining 20 hours to complete fasting, except for unsweetened drinks such as tea (not herbal teas with sweet fruit) coffee and water. In fact, if the 24 hours per day are broken down into 80 and 20% per day, the result will be 19.4 fasting and 4.6 hours in which you are allowed to eat virtually ad libitum or to satiety and without counting foods and calories.

    Although this might seem too good to be true, I still invite you to continue reading and to understand the scientific bases that justify this great effectiveness in terms of results.
