    Prologue

    Jacob Damion

Jacob Damion was once a black-ops specialist who had completed many missions abroad taking out and or protecting high ranking people for the CIA. Jacob had completed all his missions with a zero-fail count and lost none of his men in some of the most dangerous missions that were issued. His speciality was in interrogation methods by using items that were available to him in each location. Because of what he had done and saw Jacob was not able to settle down and start a family.

He had his commercial truck licence, so he bought a 2001 Western Star and with his own operating authority he was able to run all over the country picking and choosing his loads. Jason also had a business on the side which was helping people that had exhausted all avenues for help from the authorities. Jacob had placed an ad in the mercenary rags as Trucker for Hire and his contact information. The story in this book is about Jacob being called back into action for the CIA. I hope you enjoy reading Chronicles of a Trucker for Hire.

    Chapter one

After driving through a blinding blizzard for five hours, Jacob decided that he needed to find a truck stop to recharge his batteries. He pulled into a truck stop just outside of New Jersey and went to grab some hot food and a coffee. While he was eating his food, he received an e-mail from someone he thought and hoped he would never hear from again in his lifetime.

Jacob finished his meal and returned to his truck for some well-deserved sleep. Several hours later, Jacob woke up to the sound of another e-mail alert from the same person. Jacob opened the e-mail and started reading the message. The message was asking him to contact them as soon as possible. The message went on to say that they have an offer of employment requiring his special skills. Jacob thought for a few minutes and was questioning himself, why would the NSA want him to do some work for them.

Later that day, Jacob sent a response back asking why they wanted him, when they have so many high skilled agents available at their fingertips. A few minutes later, another e-mail came back stating please meet with me no strings attached and it’s not about Marshall. Jacob thought for several hours if he should meet with her or say no thanks and be done with it. Going against his better judgement, Jacob decided that he would meet with her and find out why she had contacted him. He sent an e-mail back stating that he would meet with her at her convenience. A few minutes later, the person e-mailed her response; tomorrow in New Jersey at 4:00 pm if that is ok with you. Jacob sent a message back, where?

A few minutes later, came the response; at the truck stop where you are parked at right now. Jacob said, Shit, she must want me really bad for something, hopefully not because of what happened between us.

He was hoping that she had either forgotten or has forgiven him for their relationship breakdown. The next day, Jacob watched and at 4:00 pm a hummer pulled up in front of his Western Star and two heavily built men got out and took their positions waiting for their boss to exit the vehicle. A minute later, she stepped out of the hummer and walked towards Jacob’s truck. Jacob opened the door of his truck and moved over to the passenger seat, so she could climb in and sit down in the driver’s seat.

As she made herself comfortable, she turned to Jacob and asked, Well how come you’re letting me sit in your driver’s seat?

Jacob grinned then said, Well, I figured that you always wanted to be in the driver’s seat.

She smiled then pulled up her briefcase onto her lap and opened it up. She pulled out a file from her briefcase and opened it. When she started to speak, she leaned over and whispered, It’s good to see you Jake.

Jacob smiled as he replied, Same here red, your looking as beautiful as always.

She turned and looked at Jacob with a big smile, Just think of what we could have had if you didn’t go out on that mission for Marshall.

Jacob responded, Well, it’s water under the bridge so what did you want me for and don’t tell me it was about going over old memories about us.

She handed Jacob some papers from the file to read over and said, Ok if that is how you want it from now on you will address me by my name and title understood.

Jacob muttered, Yes Gloria, I understand.

Good, replied Gloria, now therefore I contacted you.

Jacob started reading over the paperwork that she had handed him. A few minutes later Jacob asked, Is this for real?

Gloria responded, Yes the United States government is willing to pay you that amount of money if you will help us.

Jacob looked at Gloria and asked, Will they provide any and all materials that I ask for as well as weapons?

Gloria responded, Yes, it says so right there now doesn’t it.

Jacob asked, Alright and who do I report to and how?

Gloria grinned and replied, Why me of course honey.

Jacob rolled his eyes and muttered, Shit.

Gloria said, Now is that the way to respond about reporting to me. After all that’s what you did before Marshall entered the scene right. Gloria went on, By the way thanks for taking care of that asshole for us as well."

Jacob asked, "And how is the payment going to be made to me

Gloria replied, We have already deposited your first payment into your secret account, go ahead and check for yourself. Jacob just stared as Gloria went on informing him that, They are not interested in your secret account, just your skills.

Jacob said, Ok where do we start and when?

Gloria replied, You need to be in Texas in four days and wait at this truck stop marked on the paperwork. You will encounter a truck driver named Sean McDougal. Sean is also an owner operator and drives a 2003 Peterbilt pulling a three-axle van trailer. She then said, He is the guy that has been moving the weapons and the terrorists around the country as well as setting up training camps all over the country. Gloria went on about how, Sean has about fifteen men that help him recruit and set up the cells of home-grown terrorists. They approach anyone that may have a beef with the current government. These cells are unaware that there are others like them that are controlled by Sean. The groups are not allowed to have outside contact and receive their intel only by Sean and Sean’s men. Sean is ex- military but only in infantry and the same goes for his men. Their goal is to destroy the current government from inside our own borders. They intend to kill and harm their fellow Americans by using explosives and gunfire proving that the public are not safe anywhere because of the current government’s policies. If they succeed in their goals the people will get the mentality to start shooting and ask questions later which you know will turn out bad for everyone. So, Jacob as you know you will be strictly on your own. If anything goes wrong, I or we can not help or acknowledge that you are or were working for us at any time.

Jacob paused for a minute then asked Gloria, Are you sure that each cell is unaware of the other cell’s existence?

Gloria replied, Yes we have been watching them for several months now and each cell has been completely isolated. Each group only knows what Sean allows them to know.

Jacob looked at the paperwork and replied, And these areas marked off are where the camps are located?

Gloria replied, Yes, and this is the list of Sean’s men and the trucks they are using. You must notify me when each camp or cell has been dispatched so we can clean up the mess. We don’t want anyone getting wind of what is going on, ok.

Ok, replied Jacob, If I need anything, I will contact my supplier so there is no connection between us.

Gloria opened the driver’s door of his truck then turned and asked Jacob, Can I please have one last kiss? I have never gotten over you. I need you to be careful with this, ok.

Jacob leaned over and kissed Gloria on the lips and replied, I will be extra careful on this assignment.

Gloria exited his truck as Jacob watched her walk back over to her hummer. He watched as she climbed into the back seat as her two bodyguards followed her.

Jacob started going over the notes, so he could start putting a plan of action together. As he read the paperwork, he thought about how this could be happening in his own country. Jacob couldn’t understand how ex-military men and women who took an oath to protect their country are now planning on destroying it from inside. He was especially upset that they were using the disguise of being truckers. Jacob stayed up reading for more then five hours then went for some dinner at the truck stop. As he entered the restaurant, he looked around and was wondering if anyone of the drivers in there were working for Sean. He sat down and ordered fish and chips and a coffee. After eating Jacob returned to his Western Star and turned in for the night. He had a rough time sleeping as he could not get it out of his mind about the home-grown cells and how many there were.

The next morning, Jacob completed his pre-trip and fired up the C15 then started heading down towards Texas. He was glad to put New Jersey behind him with all that snow and shitty weather. He drove until he hit the most southern outskirts of Ohio where he pulled into a small truck stop and went in to grab some food and a coffee.

Later that night, Jacob turned in and prayed that he would get a good night’s rest. The next morning, he woke up feeling refreshed from a good night’s sleep. He went into the truck stop to clean up and have something to eat. Jacob was hoping to mingle with the other drivers just in case there were some rumors going on about a certain group of truckers. He stayed inside the truck stop for most of the day and if he was asked why he was not running down the road he would just explain that he was on his 24-hour restart. Jacob was a little leery of one driver that seemed to keep to himself and seemed to be checking out some of the rough looking truckers that came into the truck stop. He thought it was odd how this trucker was acting, like he was waiting for a trucker to come in and meet with him.

A couple of hours later, a truck driver came in carrying a briefcase in his left hand. This trucker caught Jacob’s attention right away as most truckers would leave their briefcase in their truck. Simply because of the paperwork that would be inside it such as bills of lading, receiver info and what the load is and its value. Something you don’t want possible hijackers to see laying on a table in plain view. The truck driver with the briefcase walked into the back area of the truck stop. Jacob watched as the truck driver walked over to the driver that Jacob had concerns about and sat at a booth together. He then noticed the one driver open the briefcase and exchanged some paperwork for a thick envelope. The truck driver placed the envelope in his front inside coat pocket then said a few words to the other driver and left the same way he came in.

Jacob wondered to himself about how they interacted with each other and that the transaction took a total of about fifty seconds. He followed the driver with the briefcase out to the driver’s unit and watched as the driver climbed into his truck then went into his bunk and closed the curtains. Jacob took the ID information off the truck and van trailer, so he could check the list he received from Gloria as well as run it on his computer. Jacob returned to his Star and climbed into the bunk, closed the curtains and pulled out his laptop from its hiding place.

He went over the list that was provided by Gloria and found that the truck was not on her list, so he fired up the old laptop and entered his code to access all DMV intel in the U.SA. Once the site opened, Jacob entered the information he had and a few minutes later the DMV provided the truck and trailer ownership information. He checked it over and found that it matched what he was looking at. Jacob then entered another website that allowed him to run information on government scale house stops on that unit.

He found out that the truck was stopped by a state trooper in Indiana a week ago for a blown air bag. The information revealed that the driver’s name was Torrance Whitcombe from Dallas Texas. Jacob then searched for information on Torrance and a minute later the screen came alive revealing that Torrance has had quite a bit of a run in with the law including several weapon charges regarding his property outside of Dallas. There was even a warning that he was on a watch list by the FBI for trying to purchase supplies that could be used to make bombs. Great, muttered Jacob as he read on about what kind of dirt bag this Torrance really was. Jacob closed the laptop and thought well Torrance does have something shady going on, but it’s not what I am after. Jacob went back into the truck stop and grabbed some dinner before calling it a night.

The next morning, Jacob grabbed a quick breakfast and headed towards Corsicana, Texas. The drive was good as he made a lot of miles up mostly due to good weather and traffic. Late that night, he pulled into a rest stop outside of Corsicana and went into his bunk for the night. The next morning, Jacob completed his pre-trip then went to use the restrooms at the rest stop. He let the old girl warm up (his truck) then continued to the truck stop that Gloria told him that he needed to be at. He arrived early so he could check out the place and its surroundings. Jacob found the truck stop was alright as he backed up into an area that allowed him to
