The story of the vigilante kid’s daughter

    Chapter one

It was a hot, sweltering day on August the 11th 1974 when Rosanna’s phone rang, and she knew it was a call from her father. Rosanna had a close bond with her father ever since she was little. She answered with a raspy voice, Hi dad, how are you and mom doing? There was an unusually long pause before her father Terrance replied, Rosy you need to come home, it’s your brother Troy. It sounds like he is in some serious trouble this time.

Rosanna asked, What happened, I thought he was in Licheria with his squad helping out the locals?

Her father replied, Yes he was near Cranville, Lecheria, but there was an attack on the village and Troy and his squad were taken hostage. The government have just sent us a notice that they are being held for ransom.

Rosanna replied, I am on my way home right now dad, see you and mom soon. Rosanna asked Dad, have you told Brett?

Her father replied, "Yes we have, and you know your older brother. He will be flying into night once his leave of duty comes in.

Rosanna said, Bye dad see you soon, then she hung up the phone. As she started packing to head home, she remembered what it was like growing up with her two big scrapping brothers. Rosanna and her two brothers were a hand full, always getting kicked out of school for fighting. The kids were taught by their parents to always protect the people that need their help and to respond with deadly force if required. Rosanna thought back on how her parents taught the three of them to defend themselves and that family always came first.

It was a long drive to her parent’s place in Plattsmouth, Nebraska, but Rosanna took her time driving all the way there from Texas. Rosanna and her two brothers did their time serving in the military but now only Rosanna’s brother Brett stayed enlisted as an instructor on hand to hand combat in close quarters as well as an interrogator with a reputation for being ruthless in his tactics. Rosanna’s specialty is also in hand to hand combat in close quarters except she has a reputation for stealth and brutality when she attacks from the shadows. Even her two brothers are leery of her when they go out on night training with her. Rosanna looked just like her mother Rose but has her dad’s temper and quickness.

Her brother Troy joined a company that runs security details all over the world and it is funded by the CIA. Troy was in Cranville, Licheria escorting out a small group of people when they were attacked, and the group was taken hostage.

The next day, Rosanna turned onto the long driveway of her parent’s home. As Rosanna exited her car, her dad (Terrance) was there to greet her.

Rosanna stepped back and said, Shit dad you scared the hell out of me.

Her dad laughed and replied, I can still sneak up on you Rosy, mom’s in the kitchen waiting for you. She is upset of course and she’s talking about buying some plane tickets and going over there herself to bring Troy home.

Rosanna whispered as she hugged her father, Please tell me we are going to go over there and rescue Troy and the others.

Terrance hugged Rosanna as he replied, You should know better then to ask me that. I have already made the arrangements for our supplies to be waiting for us when we arrive tomorrow.

Rosanna pulled away from her dad and said, I better get in there before she calls for a search party for me.

Terrance told Rosanna, Be prepared for some ranting from your mother. Rosanna entered the home that she had lived in right from birth and up until two years ago, that’s when she took up the position of head instructor in hand to hand combat as well as the instructor on jungle warfare tactics. Rosanna was recruited by the CIA just after her brother Troy was recruited by a company called Eclipse because of his skills and his reputation for completing his missions without any causalities.

Rosanna gave her mother a big hug as she whispered in her mother’s ear, You don’t know how much I have missed you?

Rose replied, Oh yes I do dear.

Rosanna pulled back from her mother’s embrace and asked, What about you know who?

Rose laughed then said, Don’t worry about your brother, he is on his way here as we speak. Rosanna said, But I thought that they wouldn’t let him take his leave?

Rose replied, You do know that your talking about your brother Brett; right?

Rosanna smiled as she said, Yeah, I should have known better. Just then Terrance walked into the room and announced that he had just received a text from Brett advising his parents that he was on his way and that he would be there around 7:00 pm. Rose threw her arms up in the air and shouted, ALRIGHT, WE NEED TO GET OUR SUPPLIES TOGETHER RIGHT NOW. Rosanna looked over at her father and gave him the look.

He whispered your mother is going through menopause and get’s cranky sometimes. Rose heard the comment from Terrance and said, Keep it up, honey and you will be sorry.

Terrance just shrugged his shoulders and smiled as he replied, If I knew that was all I had to do to get you to punish me, I would have done that a long time ago.

Rosanna just smiled as she said, You have no idea how much I miss listening to you two carry on.

Terrance said, We best get packing before Brett gets here.

Rosanna said, I will go and get our supplies from the basement."

Rose replied, "You’re already too late for that, your father was down there all day yesterday getting things ready. In fact, the supplies are already on the plane that we have made available for this little side adventure.

Rosanna laughed out loud and said, I should have known better mom. The three of them loaded up the farm truck then said goodbye to Marsha and Pop and headed off to meet Brett at the airport where their plane was waiting for them as well to take them over to Licheria. They arrived at the small airport just as Brett’s plane landed.

Terrance and Rose went over to the terminal and greeted their son Brett, then escorted him over to where the plane was waiting for them along with Rosanna of course. In the plane, Brett and

Rosanna hugged each other then immediately started calling each other names. Rose yelled out, YOU TWO, GROW UP RIGHT NOW OR SO HELP ME GOD!

Brett looked over at Rosanna and gave a weird look. Rosanna turned her head slightly towards Brett and whispered, Dad says it’s menopause.

Brett looked over at his dad sitting there staring out the window, then whispered, Poor guy, I would not want to be in his shoes.

Suddenly, Rosanna and Brett felt a smack across the back of their heads. Rose said, So poor dad, mom has menopause. Both of you start working with your father on how we are going to save your brother, now! Brett smirked as Rosanna started telling her mother that she needs to improve on her swing, as she hardly felt her mother hit her. Of course, that was the wrong thing to say to her mother. Rose went over and grabbed Rosanna’s left hand and held it in her right hand.

She considered her daughter’s eyes and then whispered, Your dad has been teaching me about some new simple techniques in restraining someone with tactical skills, with that Rose manipulated her fingers a certain way when suddenly Rosanna went down on her left knee. Terrance laughed out loud while Brett so scared of what his mother would do to him just stood there with a smirk on his face. Rosanna was back up on both feet just as the fasten seat belts sign came on. Rose and Rosanna sat together so they could catch up on how everyone was doing. Brett sat beside his dad, when both Rose and Rosanna looked over and said at the same time, My god Brett, you look like dad when he was young.

Terrance replied, What the hell do you mean, when I was young?

Rose rolled her eyes and said, Shit, now you got him going, we will never hear the end of it.

Brett indeed looked like and had the same personality as his father, except Brett would not use equal force but instead as he put it why let them live, as far as he was concerned, they would more then likely just continue hurting innocent people. However, this mission has brought the four of them together and there will be no holding back until the last son of a bitch kidnapper was dead. It was a long flight with three stops along the way, which took the better part of two days before they arrived in Cranville Licheria. Brett had arranged to smuggle in their supplies with a friend he knew that lived in the area.

Brett met with his friend and took possession of their supplies as well as an old truck. After meeting up with the rest of his family, Brett loaded up the back of the pickup truck then all of them had to squeeze into the small cab of the truck. After several minutes and a few cuss words it was decided that Brett and Rosy sat in the back of the truck with their supplies. Terrance reached over and grabbed Rose’s knee as a gesture of affection, when she reached down and pulled his hand up to her check and whispered, I love you. He looked over and smiled just as Rosy started yelling, ENOUGH OF THIS MUSHY SHIT, LET’S GET GOING.

Terrance said, Ok honey, where too?

Rose opened a file folder that contained the information of where Troy and his group were last reported to have been, before disappearing without a trace, at least that’s what the local government had reported. Rose instructed Terrance to start driving westerly until we come to a place called, New Town, which is about two hours away. As they drove towards the forest, Rose started going over the intel that was provided by their friends in the military. She said, I don’t think this government even attempted to find Troy and the others.

Terrance asked, "Do you see any connection at all between the people that was in Troy’s group.

An hour later Rose turned her head towards Terrance and whispered, All the people in Troy’s group are executives for three major companies that have contracts with the local government.

Terrance thought for a moment then asked, Do we have any signal out here with the satellite phone?

Before Rose could reply Rosanna yelled from the back of the truck, YES DAD, BUT IT IS SPORADIC?

Terrance yelled back, THANK YOU, SWEETIE. An hour and a half later they arrived at New Town which was nothing to write home about. Terrance pulled into a gas station and asked the attendant to fill it up. All of them got out of the truck to stretch as well as grab something cool to drink. About fifteen minutes later they climbed back into the truck and headed off into the night. Several hours later, Terrance pulled off the dirt road and turned the truck off. Rose looked over at Terrance and asked, What’s wrong honey?

Terrance whispered, This is a good place to crash for the night. Brett hopped out of the truck and started preparing an area for their camp fire and sleeping bags. Rosanna on the other hand, immediately started scouting out the area for trouble. Rose and Terrance gathered up the file and their satellite phones then sat down beside their two kids at the fire and started reviewing the information that they had on Troy and his group.

Brett started questioning some of the material that was in the report, he was questioning the material that was not in the file. A lot of the paperwork seemed to not be about the kidnapping and made no sense. Rosanna agreed with her big brother that there was a lot of intel that was left out on purpose for some reason. Terrance said, So, at least we know that there are supposed to be eleven men that ambushed Troy; right?

Well, not really honey, there seems to be some misunderstanding on several of the documents about how many men are involved. We could be looking at around fifteen men all together, replied Rose. Brett and Rosanna both spoke out at the same time, "Do you think we should warn them so they can get more men first before we kick their sorry asses.

Terrance laughed then said, Shit, see you have raised our kids to be smart asses all the time.

Rose replied, I don’t think so, after all who taught them to fight in the first place. The four of them carried on talking until they fell asleep beside the fire. At 2:30 am, Rosanna heard a noise and went to investigate what caused it. She snuck up on two men that were ready to attack the four of them and take whatever they could.

Rosanna was able to sneak up on the two men and overheard
