    The slow, rumbling movement of the horse-drawn carriage came to a halt and Harriet brought a hand up to her mouth as she tensed. She reached towards the curtain covering the small window as the wait stretched out, but couldn’t bring herself to open it and dropped her hand back to her lap.

    Stay tranquil, she murmured, but it was impossible to do so and there was no stopping the anxieties bubbling up.

    If she could, she would happily remain isolated in the confines of the carriage. It was wishful thinking, however, and she knew it. She closed her eyes as she waited for the door to be opened from the outside and flinched when it was.

    Princess Harriet, I’m so glad you could come.

    The slightly mocking tone of the feminine voice wasn’t lost on Harriet. It wasn’t as if she had any choice in the matter and she opened her eyes to the sight of a beautiful woman in a long, black dress. A silver belt stood out in stark contrast to the darkness of the material, as did a large silver medallion.

    It was the golden blonde of the woman’s gorgeous, braided hair that really caught Harriet’s attention though and it made her realize just how far from home she was. She remained sitting in the carriage as they stared at each other and was in no doubt she was
