Enslaved By A Soldier
Archer wasn't an evil man, despite his evil doings. He’d just seen so much horror and degradation that he’d learned to turn his eyes, walk the other way when he witnessed the violence that purged the Earth for longer than he’d lived. As a means to ease his torment and pain he'd turned to drink to wash the images of destruction and desolation from his mind. His plans of drinking himself into a coma had been working perfectly until he found himself the sudden protector and sole provider for a beautiful slave girl fresh from the auction stand at the Scorge.
Having never taken care of anything other than himself his entire life, Archer struggles to look after the little female in his care. But as he slowly learns how to nurse her back to health and keeps her safe and warm inside his home will his cold and tortured heart be able to withstand the heat he feels in his body for the little captive in his bed? Or will it begin to thaw as he’s forced to open himself up to the feelings his slave girl evokes within?

Chapter 1
Archer wasn’t an evil man, despite his evil doings. He’d just seen so much horror and degradation that he’d learned to turn his eyes, walk the other way when he witnessed the violence that purged the Earth for longer than he’d lived.
He was born in Halara. Raised in a society that accepts so much more than human kind’s ancestors of the past ever did, because the world had been purged. Dwindled and violated after the siege of the great ones to nothing more than a few scraps of civilisation squabbling amongst each other to own the slim shards of land that haven’t been scorched from the Earth.
The world was dog eat dog now and every man and woman still living knew it. That’s why no one was even batting a lid at the scene before them. Men, woman and children gathered around in the Scorge to watch the slavery of prisoners of war and yes Archer was among them. Bitterly he’d had little choice but to watch as the captives on the stage ascended and line upon line of shackled females with down cast eyes huddled in a row to be gawked and screamed at by the crowd.
Archer had seen it one to many times to be interested and instead focused his mind on the acrid taste of alcohol as it flowed down his throat. He didn’t know if his permanent state of intoxication made these dark ceremonies easier to bare or if he’d really become immune to the onslaught of inhumanity the human race now showed prisoners of war, but he turned away flippantly as one by one they began to auction off the young girls on stage.
A solid hand locked onto his arm and drove him from his thoughts.
‘Why attend these auctions if you never intend on buying a woman Archer?’ The gentle concern of Caspian, his militia captain and dearest friend reminded him that even good people turned a blind eye to the harsh deeds of the world now.
Archer shrugged, ‘It seems only right as I’m the one who’s responsible for them being here.’ His voice seemed empty although the words rang harshly in his ears.
Caspian’s hand squeezed tighter before letting go completely. ‘Yours is a job that has to be done Archer. You merely carry the torch your farther before you and grandfather before that did. Conquering is your nature. I know it’s not much of a compliment but I think it’s a blessing you work for our faction instead of against us.’ Caspian’s head turned back to the scene on the stage with interest. ‘Just think, if we didn’t destroy their faction they would have come for ours and our woman would have been on stage, auctioned off to the most persistent buyer. Life is dog eat dog now my friend, your job is called for.’
The words flowed into Archer as smoothly as the alcohol he’d poured down his throat moments before. Some may have thought that his job sounded exciting or powerful, to be the leader of the first resistance against opposing factions but the job truly gave Archer nothing but chills and nightmares.
He couldn’t say that he was a brave man. He knew it took more than the ability to fight and lead an army to reach that. Ever since he’d followed the footsteps that were laid down before him by his father into the world of the militia, he’d known that real bravery would of been finding the strength to walk away from this life not be swept along with the currents of his families past. At first in training it had seemed entertaining perhaps fun to learn to fight, learn to build his muscles and senses for war but the moment he’d been thrown into battle and handed a gun, he’d known that no strength in the world could keep his sanity standing after his first kill.
Now he was the man he disgusted. His soul eaten by his dark deeds
