PROLOGUE
THE PROFESSIONAL AESTHETICS TODAY
The client is constantly looking for new treatments esthetics, cosmetics, care and advice in the care Of the face and body. The client is looking for today, a qualified professional who can inform him with scientific arguments, always based on knowledge of anatomy, physiology, cosmetology, and technical-aesthetic resources, which provides specific treatments for his needs.
A motivated beautician by his profession, is uneasy to learn, to recycle himself and to overcome the possible difficulties that this professional activity can offer, Today, with the appearance of technical courses, technologists and the most recent in the market, the Bachelor of Aesthetics, the professional will be increasingly refining and reinforcing
that excellence in professional attitude and practice goes through good academic training.
Seriousness, scientific-technical knowledge, objectivity, ethics, motivation and love, are the basic tools techniques that the professional beautician possess to reach the success.
My intention as a passionate professional about the ESTÉ- TICA, educator by training, is focused on the human valorisation and professional: because I believe in the ability human construction, and professional construction with knowledge and passion. Facing this new technological vision, the consumer of aesthetic services seeks selectively, professionals who have differentiated and quality technical-aesthetic knowledge. The aesthetic professional who possesses intellectual, cultural capital and technical as a competitive differential tends to be differentiate in the market. Create a favorable environment, be creative, know how to manage your business, give a show in customer service, are demands of this new consumer. As we know, they will survive to this market requirement only the best professionals, the most prepared. By this reason, I think more and more multidisciplinary work and interdisciplinary will tend to provide positive results to our client. Through this new trend, we must keep in mind that the role of the esthetician is fundamental in these interdisciplinary teams, being able to contribute in the
treatments prescribed by the doctor, including opinions and suggesting complementary techniques to the treatment, enabling more effective treatments and more aesthetic performance. Today, with the evolved cosmetological technology and with the advance aesthetic technician, we obtained the support of dermatologists, plastic surgeons, endocrinologists, angiologists, etc. We are happy that there is an important request from physicians looking for qualified aesthetic professionals to act in their offices, to develop co-helpers activities ranging from a skin cleansing, with the aim of removing impurities from the skin and making possible refinements of the cornea layer, making use of authorized protocols in the exercise of the profession, going through hydrations, accompaniment of acne, manual massage, lifting cosmetics, application of some acids allowed by sanitary regulation organisms, use of eletrotherapy, to the accompaniment of a postoperative with application of the technique of lymphatic drainage.
The professional of aesthetics in the current times is a professional trained to interact in a complementary manner with different specialties, with a relationship of interlocution and harmony. Its sphere of action is determined by the other professional fields into the health sector, but its autonomy is total in regard to the process of the preservation of beauty for the physical and psychological well-being of the client. For this reason, professionalization, recognition, regulation, as well as the creation of Regional Councils and Federal Aesthetics are very important, not only to strengthen the area, but also to supervise the exercise of the
profession in what refers to the verification of the presence of the requirements demanded for excellent practices.
As an educator and teacher, I know how important it is integration of basic and professional sciences, articulation between theory and practice, using active methodologies of teaching-learning.
Our graduation course, lasting three years, it has an objective wich is the training of specialists in matters of Health, Beauty and Wellbeing, giving main emphasis to the preventive approach and restorative, presenting the most recent and innovative techniques of this segment.
All the curricular degree is supplied by diverse professionals and educators in the health sector, having as teachers to doctors, immunologists, pharmacists, cosmetologists, beauticians, physiotherapists, administrators, biologists, physicists, etc. The proposal of the course is to enable the student have a critical and entrepreneurial vision, making it capable of manage its own business of aesthetic facial and body services.
Pedagogical, administrative and experiential models differentiated and pioneers, awakens in this student greater creativity, optimizing a differentiated performance, in a market every more competitive time.
Diego Tomatis's initiative in writing this book comes to meet the needs that Latin America has for to professionalize our aesthetics area, I am certain that It will provoke deep debate and I think it is a great initiative.
I congratulate you and count on us from Brazil.
We will have taken a big step in the quality and preservation of health and good service to our client, when keep in mind that: Give life to the years, it's worth a lot more the pain that to give years to the life

Chapter 1
MY PERSONAL STORY AND THE REASON FOR MY PERSONAL STRUGGLE IN THE SECTOR
What motivated me mainly to write this book, were a series of situations that I went through during the last 14 years of my life.
On many occasions I did not find the best way to express what I always thought about the professional sector of the aesthetics and cosmetology, until I started taking notes about the reality of it for about 2 years in a row, in specialized magazines, blogs and social networks. The feedback that they got were divided, luckily 70% of them were favorable, 20% disagreed and I think the least 10% reserved the right to express their opinion, perhaps due to ignorance about what they wrote, or lack of arguments at the time of make a constructive criticism.
I never imagined that I would dare to write a book about this topic, but I came to the conclusion that many
Sometimes people need to download everything they want to express into paper,so in this way people is able to reach a humble opinion about something.
When I started to review and study the answers and opinions of the professionals of the sector regarding to my notes, I understood that it was necessary to expand much more on them, for two reasons, they were only the size of a simple page of Word, but at the same time they generated many comments, experiences, accessions and opinions. On the other hand I could appreciate a total lack of knowledge on the part of professionals on the issues that it was addressed and that nobody explained them in detail how things were.
It was so I converted 8 notes of opinions into 12 chapters of this book, trying to explain in a simple way, how I think which are or should be some fundamental aspects of a sector in constant boom and growth.
I took courage and embarked on this project without many background, because there are few people who speak about what you are about to read, few are engage and involved responsibly with what they are passionate I was filled with questions before I started, as always when something new starts, but when I was reading a publication on facebook, I ended up taking the decision.
The publication said: anyone, plants a tree, have a child or write a book The difficult thing is to water the tree, raise the child, and read the book. That is why, if you find yourself reading these lines, I wish to thank you, your time, your investment and the inconvenience that was taken.
THE BEGINNINGS
I started to develop myself in the vocational training sector when I was 22 years old. While I came from a family who was dedicated to the wholesale of perfumery supplies and hairdresser, I did not have any knowledge about professional training in aesthetics and beauty.
In the year 2000, I was studying business administration in the city of Córdoba, when the possibility came up of acquiring a Beauty School that at that time had 40 years of existence, with several subsidiaries and belonging to a national chain.
The proposal was made to my father, since he was the one who had the capital to invest, and he thought of me to make put me in charge and develop it. When he told me the idea, I thought it was an excellent opportunity to apply what enough I had studied until that moment and on the other hand, it was an occasion to generate money, since until that moment I was depending on the monthly allowance that my father was giving me to subsist in Córdoba.
Without thinking too much, I said yes, although I had no idea what was a Beauty School, beyond what was very familiar with the hairdressing business, I came up with many questions that scared me, but the hunger to develop something new to me, it was superior to doubts and fears
This school, existing prior to my admission, had staff and people who responded to the previous manager and the house central office in Buenos Aires, in other words, it was a branch own by the owners, it was not a franchise, which facilitated a change
Of parallel control. That is to say, the acquisition of the company was made in December of 2000 and the courses started in March 2001, so we had to internalize about all the questions strategies about the courses that were dictated, who were the teachers that dictated them, what were the modalities, the study materials, tools, etc. But that was not all, as in that school supplies were also sold in the school, it had to be understood quickly what were all those little jars filled full of cream and for what their purpose was, Not to mention the tools and accessories for pedicure, aesthetics and cosmetology, like golf clubs for interdigitals, stainless steel tools or pimple extractors stems, which I had not seen them in my life. But since everything was new, Somehow it was exciting, at least for me.
I will never forget the moment, when I was given the list of people interested in taking any of the courses that are offered, which had apparently they have been signed up since November from 2000 to January 2001.
Once I met the teachers who had been teaching courses in this school and after a meeting to explain them that the school had been sold and from that moment the managers were others, my father, the control manager and me, I was ready to make some phone calls, to invite them to to come to the school, which it had changed owners, something like the posters that one sees in front of business with the legend NEW OWNERS, trying to communicate that from now on the service will be better.
This information was very important, since a month after starting manage it, I learned about the disasters and economic damages that the previous manager had done to the clients and to the students, charging them the same fee 2 or 3 times, or selling them pedicure chairs to clients that were never delivered. Somehow, I realized why the owners they had made the decision to sell it, and the responsibility that I had in improving the image of the school
