About this ebook

Traveling to Europe and skiing in the French Alps may sound fun but it brought me no lasting fulfillment. Falling off a horse as a young child didn't help much either. This is a short story of some struggles in my own life, especially as a teenager and young adult, and how God intervened so that I could become not only a child of God but a workman approved unto God. "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ." (Romans 10:17) May you be blessed by what you discover as you read through it. It's my prayer that the words the Lord has allowed me to share give you hope, encouragement and joy.

I have found it a great joy to share my personal story under the influence and leading of the Holy Spirit of God, and count it a privilege to present it to you. "It was for freedom that Christ set us free..." (Galatians 5:1a)

Enjoy and may God richly bless you!

    PREFACE

It's my prayer that the words the Lord has allowed me to share give you hope, encouragement and joy.

Although this is the fourth book in the series, the experiences described provided the foundation that enabled me to write the first three books. I have found it a great joy to weave portions of my life together in this manuscript under the influence and leading of the Holy Spirit of God, and count it a privilege to present it to you.

    Introduction

    Psalm 139:13

For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.

God created me, but I didn’t know him. I was an unbeliever until I reached 30 years of age. God protected me, but I didn’t give him credit. For the first 30 years of my life I experienced good times and bad. I lived overseas, visited Paris and London, did well in school, had friends. Others might envy some of my experiences. But I also experienced great sadness, misery, loneliness and at different times contemplated and attempted suicide. Throughout all those years I believed there was a God, but I believed him to be an impersonal God, an entity or a force.

It wasn’t until I came face to face with God’s Son and came to know the Lord Jesus Christ personally that I realized how much God had watched over me at different periods in my life despite my ignoring him and seeking my own selfish desires.

    Consider this passage (Colossians 1:16):

"For by Him all things were created, both

in the heavens and on earth, visible and

    invisible, whether thrones or dominions

or rulers or authorities – all things have

been created by Him and for Him."

God created everything, he created man in his image, and those who are believers in Jesus Christ are God's workmanship created to do good works. We’re to use our lives to give glory to God as we become more Christlike. We
