Author

Anna Scott

Anna is an author of romance novels and erotic short stories. The books Anna loves to write are erotic in nature. They swirl around an underlying theme of love, challenge, imminent heartbreak and always end with at least the possibility of a Happily Ever After. In her youth, she would frequently stay awake into the early hours of the morning, typing on an old typewriter.  Horrific stories of blood, murder and suicide plagued her young mind until they had to be released onto the page.  Her love of writing started at this early age, but over the years, her work has moved from the twisted and morbid to the more lascivious and pleasurable. Today, Anna can be found in her comfortable, red armchair, coffee in hand, staring out at the surrounding fields, dreaming up new and decadent stories. She shares her life with an alpha male of her own, a family and many animals. Anna began to publish her books, thanks to the encouragement of a dear friend.  This special person is always a support, encouraging Anna at every turn.  She helps to focus Anna’s mind when the many facets of writing get to be overwhelming.

    Author's Note

In writing this book initially, I knew there was so much more the characters had to share. It took three years, but Chase and Ainsley finally will get to tell their story, the way they want to.

This book is a work of fiction. All names, characters, likenesses, places, and incidents are products of the author's imagination. They are not related to any actual events, persons alive or dead, locations and any resemblance to current or past events is purely coincidental or are used fictitiously.

    I hope you enjoy!

    Happy Reading,

    Anna Scott

    Dedication

To my sweet family - for giving me the space I need to work, the comfort I need when I cry over characters, and most importantly, for giving me only a minimal amount of crap when I shout at the screen.

    Chapter 1

    Chase

The four miles between our house and Ainsley's parents' place were empty. There wasn't a single car, a person, even a damn animal. At every point where the hill sloped, I stopped the truck and looked. Duke sniffed the air but never locked onto anything. When I'd walked out of the house, heading to the truck, Duke followed close, not letting me get away from him.

Show me, Mountain growled as I walked into the dining room of their house. When I'd pulled up, I could see every light was on, the outside spotlights, porch lights and the big pole light at the end of the drive, that they only used in bad weather.

I took a deep breath and turned the grocery sack upside down, spilling every piece of paper onto the polished mahogany table top. The assorted notes scattered across the surface and making me feel sick all over again.

As Mountain picked up the first one and read the words, I watched as this man I'd looked up to my entire life shook with fear. When the first tear escaped his eyes, I felt my heart crack.

I fucked up, I whispered my horrible truth, my deepest regret. I didn't keep Ainsley safe.

He hung his head, one of the small scraps crinkling in his fist. The boys will be here, we'll find her. His voice was rough, sounding like he had to rip each word from his chest.

Jo was in the kitchen making phone calls and pots of coffee. It sounded like a few of the women were heading over.

Red Pig was the first to arrive; Mary was on the back of his bike. When they ran up the steps, they looked almost as worried as Mountain did.

Jo was freaking me out; she was so damn stoic, focused on her task and not deviating. That woman wasn't showing a single ounce of emotion, the only way I knew she was terrified was the way her hands shook when she was still.

Chase, you need to hear this, Red told me, motioning to his wife.

I nodded, annoyed, no fucking clue what Mary could have to say right now that I needed to hear.

When Ainsley got to the party, she parked next to me; I was out there getting a sweatshirt and walked in with her. She paused and took in a breath. It took everything in me to not tell her to hurry the fuck up.

Anyway, she went to the bathroom on the way in; I waited for her. While she was in there, I saw you with Felicity. I tried to stop Ainsley from seeing you, I tried to get her to go into the kitchen with me, but she didn't want to.

I watched Mary for a minute, she'd paused in her telling, and I was trying to figure out what she wanted to tell me but didn't want to say.

Tell him, Red coaxed, and I watched as she pressed her lips together. She'd been in the MC life for a long time; an old-school old lady did not talk shit to a brother, not ever.

Ainsley wouldn't go with me; she wanted to find you. So she stepped into the main room, scanned the area where you guys usually sit and didn't see you. I watched her closely as her head moved. Mary took another breath in, seeming to steady herself and I knew I was about to kick my damn ass.

Ainsley's face turned white as a sheet when she saw you stroking Felicity's hair. But when you lifted your finger and ran your knuckle along her cheekbone, Ainsley gagged and ran to the bathroom.

I could tell it was really hard for Mary to share all this without telling me how much of an asshole she thought I was. She threw up for a while, a lot, Mary said, glancing down at the surface of the table, obviously avoiding eye contact with me.

My heart jumped, my palms were clammy, and I felt sick. I'd closed my eyes, trying to brace myself for what was coming, I felt someone move in next to me, and I opened my eyes to see who it was.
