Author

Anna Scott

Anna is an author of romance novels and erotic short stories. The books Anna loves to write are erotic in nature. They swirl around an underlying theme of love, challenge, imminent heartbreak and always end with at least the possibility of a Happily Ever After. In her youth, she would frequently stay awake into the early hours of the morning, typing on an old typewriter.  Horrific stories of blood, murder and suicide plagued her young mind until they had to be released onto the page.  Her love of writing started at this early age, but over the years, her work has moved from the twisted and morbid to the more lascivious and pleasurable. Today, Anna can be found in her comfortable, red armchair, coffee in hand, staring out at the surrounding fields, dreaming up new and decadent stories. She shares her life with an alpha male of her own, a family and many animals. Anna began to publish her books, thanks to the encouragement of a dear friend.  This special person is always a support, encouraging Anna at every turn.  She helps to focus Anna’s mind when the many facets of writing get to be overwhelming.

    Author's Note

In writing this book initially, I knew there was so much more the characters had to share. It took three years, but Chase and Ainsley finally will get to tell their story, the way they want to.

This book is a work of fiction. All names, characters, likenesses, places, and incidents are products of the author's imagination. They are not related to any actual events, persons alive or dead, locations and any resemblance to current or past events is purely coincidental or are used fictitiously.

    I hope you enjoy!

    Happy Reading,

    Chapter 1

    Ainsley

Tuesday, I felt hung over, like a fucking mess with a headache and puffy eyes, but I gathered up my dog and headed over to my mom's anyway. She was outside waiting for me when we pulled up, and as soon as she opened the passenger door. Mom picked Duke up to pull him into her arms, and as soon as she looked at me, I saw the wince cross her face.

    Yikes.

That bad? I asked, not sure I really wanted to know.

    Uh, yeah.

    Will I scare the patients?

Duke and I were going on rounds with her today. As a volunteer for the local hospice, she visited people who were a part of the program. Mom didn't have any medical training, but she was a kind and loving woman.

She spent anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more with about fifteen people each week. Mom had called around and gotten permission for me to join her and for me to bring Duke along too. I for one, was glad to have something to do, considering my mood.

No, baby, but I can see you're upset. Your dad told me that Chase came back in from his call with you in a really bad mood.

I'm sorry, but I don't care. It's his damn fault, mom.

What happened? She asked, giving me the motherly concern, I so needed.

I told her of course. Not all of it, exactly, but about seeing Jeremy, then seeing Justin and knowing I should mention it to Chase, so he didn't hear from someone else that I'd been talking to Jeremy.

Mom agreed that was the right thing to do, but neither of us liked to be bossed around, so I was sure she was on my side for the rest of the crap.

She understood my point and laughed her ass off when I told her what I'd said about being there when he fucked all those women.

I wasn't wrong either; it would have probably been all I had time to do if I'd tried to cock-block him like he did to me. For once, she didn't have any words of wisdom for me; she reminded me that it would take us some time to get used to each other.

Over the next several hours, I focused on the patients and their families. Spending time with these people who were in a much more difficult spot than I was, helped me to keep things in perspective and not sulk in pity-land.

I noticed mom exchange texts with someone a few different times when we were in town, but I didn't ask, and she didn't say who it had been. Her gaze had moved to me though and I knew whoever it was, she was telling them about me.

The time out of the house had been good for me, but I was tired now, a headache was coming on and I knew the stress of the fight Chase and I had the night before was catching up with me. My shoulders felt tight and the muscles in my neck were throbbing.

When mom asked if I wanted to stay for dinner again, I declined and told her I'd made plans with Julie. The truth was, Julie and I had talked about getting together, but I was damn tired and just wanted to sleep. By the time Duke and I got home, I called Julie and asked if we could hang out the following day. I fed my dog, laid on the couch and watched a movie.

Duke and I fell asleep on the couch, and when I heard the phone ringing hours
