Trying the Other Side

The Morning After

Druid Magic

What Happened Last Night?

Trying the other side:

Tina looked around the restaurant again, her small mouse-sized table on top of the more standard-sized mammal table gave her a decent vantage point, but it wasn’t perfect. Her date this night had been even more cagey about giving out her personal details than usual, even for the particular type of site they’d met on. She could understand why some people would be reluctant to allow themselves to be identified online, but most of the time they would at least mention their species. All she could say was that her name was probably Lydia and was some sort of predatory species.

The mouse had been waiting there for nearly twenty minutes before somebody finally approached her table. But, as she scaled the adjustable chair and came up to the table, Tina was disappointed to see that she was not a predator but a rabbit. Tina gave a small sigh and told her sorry, I’m waiting for my date.

The bunny adjusted her seat to bring her eyes roughly to a level with the mouse’s. Are you Tina? She asked, surprising Tina. I’m Lydia, actually.

You’re Lydia? The mouse asked rhetorically, shock registering on her little face. I was expecting somebody more… you know.

Carnivorous? Lydia replied. Look, I just wanted to see what it was like. She pleaded, I’ve been, well, she lowered her voice to a whisper so the rest of the restaurant wouldn’t hear. Prey a few times. And I couldn’t help but wonder what it was like on the other side.

Okay, Tina cut her off. You’re not the first herbivore I’ve seen with a carnivorous streak before, it’s just that, well… the mouse gestured with her little hand as she thought. The tour is a bit advanced, most first-time preds regurgitate.

I don’t really have that option. The rabbit pointed down her front as if that explained everything. When Tina didn’t respond she elaborated a bit. The lapine digestive system is strictly one-way. We don’t have the right muscles for vomiting.

Oh, Tina nodded. It was the same for rodents, she knew that rabbits were not rodents, despite how often people counted them among the group, but hadn’t realized they shared that particular quirk.

The bunny started to leave the table, I can understand if you don’t want to go through with this now that you know who I am.

Hold on, Tina motioned for the bunny to stay. "I just need to
