Ron Nutter has written for technical trade press since 1990. Over the years he has written for InfoWorld, LAN Times, TechRepublic, NetWare Solutions, Network Solutions and Network World. It seems with each passing day there is an increasing number of events where a little bit of preparation in advance would help save some headaches and make it easier to deal with.  The problems can range from a small civil unrest as a result of local problem to a power outage related to weather or equipment failure to something more catastrophic such as an ice or snow storm over an area of several counties or more.  While there is usually help available at a state, regional or national level, it take a while for that help to arrive where it is needed.
