Amedeo Modigliani is most famous for his portrait's paintings as well as his and drawings of female nudes in one contemporary for the time manner distinguished by elongation of human heads and bodies that were not appreciated from broad public during his era, but afterward gained hot approval.
He lived during his early life in Italy, where he learned the fine art of ancient times and the masters of Renaissance.
Modigliani moved to France, Paris in 1906 where he befriended with outstanding painters and sculptors like Constantin Brancusi and Pablo Picasso.
He creates a lot of drawings, paintings and small sculptures. After 1909 Amedeo Modigliani dedicated himself primarily to sculpture for period of forth years.
Modigliani’s most important theme was portrait paintings and full length human’s bodies, equally in the pictures and in the statuettes.
Throughout his life existence, he had modest public achievements, but following Modigliani’s death he gained superior reputation and his paintings and sculptors realized very high prices. Creating his works for the duration of that fruitful time of modern so called “isms” - Futurism, Surrealism, Dadaism and Cubism, - Amadeo Modigliani did not prefer to be classified inside any of these established, essential movements. Modigliani was uncategorizaiable, obstinately persisting on his differentiation. His motto and credo for art and artist was “I paint what I see.”
Amedeo Modigliani died at age thirty five years in France, Paris of tubercular meningitis.
