Life drawing IN PASTEL PENCIL

IN THIS THIRD INSTALMENT of our five-part series I’ll be sharing my advice for making life drawings in pastel pencil, a medium that I’ve recently fallen in love with. Less waxy than a hard pastel, pastel pencil cores have a chalky texture and are stronger and less likely to crumble than soft pastel. Encased in the cedar tube of the pencil they are cleaner to use than their stick counter parts, with their length affording greater extension and variety of linear marks.
