HOW DID PHONE INTERVIEW PRO BEGIN?
Phone Interview Pro is an outgrowth of my personal experience. I was once like all of you—participating in many phone interviews in attempts to progress in my career. I noticed that although resume, interview preparation, and target company research assistance are commonly offered by outplacement and career counseling organizations, the importance of the telephone interview is often overlooked.
In response to this, I have created Phone Interview Pro—offering a book, an evaluation, and an online education program to those seeking to hone their phone interview skills. Today, more than ever, job candidates make initial contact with prospective employers via telephone. Why not increase your chances by improving your phone interview performance?
Since its beginning, Phone Interview Pro has grown, becoming an integrated part of many outsourcing agencies and educational institutions. We continue to expand, helping many individuals on their path to phone interview success.
There is no greater gift in the world than to help another human being succeed!
WHAT IS A PHONE INTERVIEW?
Do not think of a phone interview as a set time and day to talk with a person concerning an opportunity. It is much more than that. Anytime you pick up the phone or receive a call related to your job campaign, it is a phone interview. Everything you do, everything you say—even the way you say it—it impacts the mental image of you created in the mind of the person on the other end of the telephone. The impression you make on the interviewer starts immediately!
A phone interview is not just a one-hour or 30-minute scheduled phone conversation. It is not something that can easily be glossed over on your path to a face-to-face interview. A phone interview is an audition for a serious role in your future career. It is the first door to a successful job campaign.
FIVE KEY ELEMENTS OF A SUCCESSFUL PHONE INTERVIEW
Competition in the job market is extremely fierce and companies want to recruit world-class candidates. These candidates must perform a world-class phone interview. Such a phone interview embraces five key elements.
Be Yourself at Your Best
Don’t try to be the person you think the interviewer wants you to be; instead, be the person you actually are. You don’t want to get hired, only to find out that the interviewer thought she was hiring someone else. Be yourself. Just make sure to present the best version of yourself.
Prepare, Prepare, Prepare
All great accomplishments have their foundation in carefully thought-out preparation. Phone interviews are a lot like open-book tests—you can have all your information (resumes, cover letters, and so on) right in front of you. Be sure you’re organized and that you’ve taken advantage of practice techniques to ensure success.
Listen. Think. Speak.
Be sure to listen to what the interviewer has to
