About this ebook

It was cosmic fate that I was a thought-after grand-niece, for it meant when Tobias passed away from his delirium that his run-down apartment in Providence, Rhode Island became available to me. Fate, too, that the abhorrent discovery of my girlfriend cheating on me with a nautical blonde drove me back to a city I swore I would never live in again.

But the fates had an even more horrific plan in store for me. For in the dusty back room of my grand-uncle's third floor awaited three musty, long-abandoned boxes. And when curiosity drove me to open the lid ...

The Monstrous Vision of the Cthulhu Call is book one in my series: A Lovecraft Romp Through Every Genre There Is – And Some That Are Not. As the title might indicate, I was informed by a fellow author that every series absolutely must stay within a well-defined genre. Being a contrarian, I promptly set out to write a series in which each subsequent story is set with the same characters in a wildly different genre. I would love to hear your thoughts as I write this series as to which genres I should tackle next. Space Opera? Cozy Mystery? Amish Romance? The fun of me posting series as I write them is that it provides you, the reader, with an opportunity to shape and guide the results!

Book 1 is the Horror Genre book.

I will post a boxed set when I finish, for those who prefer to read series all at once.

I support benefit battered women's shelters.

I lived in Providence for two years and the series is based on where I lived.

I love writing in a variety of genres. I currently have over 300 books published in all lengths from full 500+ page novels down to short stories. I love writing series. Some are with unconnected characters, like the 14 full-length medieval novels with a sword being passed from heroine to heroine. Some have connected characters, like the 31 mini-mysteries featuring a detective in Salem, Massachusetts. All of my books are written "clean" with no explicit intimacy, no harsh language, and no explicit violence. All are suitable for teens and up. The Monstrous Vision of the Cthulhu Call - Book 1 - Horror - Lisa Shea

    Foreword

I lived in Providence, Rhode Island for two years, residing only a short distance from where H. P. Lovecraft engaged in his seminal writing. I have walked those cobblestone streets and climbed those steep hills. I’ve shouldered the weight of the heavy coastal mist on a dreary morning.

Even once I moved away, I live less than an hour north. I frequently visit Providence and adore its history.

I was inspired to embark on this multi-genre short story series because a fellow writer told me, in all seriousness, that writing a series absolutely required that the series stay in one defined genre. Being the contrarian that I am, I promptly decided that I would write a series which wildly genre-hopped with every single book. The question solely remained as to what to make the series about.

With the infamous Cthulhu books at long last coming out of copyright, it seemed the greenish, rubbery die had been cast.

I want to note that I am not striving to write as a Lovecraft mimic. There are a plethora of computer programs which could churn a storyline carefully utilizing his phrases and imagery. Rather, I’m playing with exploring his themes of the inevitability of fate, the corruption of civilization, and the complete indifference of the world as to whether people live or die.

I also, being me, feel compelled to toy with Lovecraft’s blatant racism. One could say the author
