Warning: If you are one of those who doesn’t believe in love at first sight, if you do not believe that someone can love someone so much that they have to hold hands or touch all the time while they’re together, if you think that telling someone I love you every fifteen minutes is mushy, then do not read this series.

    Chris K. writes:

Hey, Mathis! Do the world a favor! Label your stories about Brad and Kris with a warning: If you are hungry for romance and love male sex, don’t read these stories! If you do, you’ll prolong lunch, neglect errands, sneak time away from chores, read just one more page as you fight sleep, and retire much later than feasible before a workday!

Disclaimer: All of the characters and events, and most of the places, in these stories are fictitious and some of the locations actually wouldn’t work if they did exist. Any resemblance to any person living or dead is purely coincidental. This series was written over a course of several years and the author hopes that you enjoy the collection.

You must be 18 or older to read these stories.

Since this is a series, you need to read them in the order listed.

    The Books

Book 1: Shipwrecked—Kris Brown and his lover, Brad Peterson go for a ride on Brad’s parent’s new boat. Brad hasn’t informed his family that he is gay, so Kris and Brad have to pretend to be just friends.

Book 2: Seashells—Sequel to Shipwrecked. Brad talks Kris’s father, who is a helicopter pilot for Kilgore Search and Rescue, into flying the couple out to Kilgore Island to celebrate their second anniversary.

Book 3: Climb to The Top—Not related to Shipwrecked but becomes related in The Honeymoon. Country singer, Cliff Richmond is trying to make it in show biz when he is outed as not only being gay, but his lover, Preston Townsen, is a nude male model. Will the public let Cliff become the star he has always dreamed of becoming, will the homophobic rednecks kill him just because he’s gay? Follow Cliff’s journey to Country Music stardom in the redneck town of Timber Creek, Oklahoma. Cliff’s Manager, Michael, sweeps him and his band off on a cross—country tour right into the heart of the Bible Belt, where the fans are few and far between.

Book 4: The Honeymoon—Sequel to Seashells and Climb to the Top. Gary Jones (from Climb to the Top) and his family visit his grandparents in Jefferson for Thanksgiving and afterwards, his cousin, Kris Brown and Kris’ lover, Brad Peterson, go to Redwood, Wyoming for their honeymoon.

Book 5: The Concert—Sequel to The Honeymoon. Chad, Brad and Kris go to Phoenix to visit the twin’s grandparents and to see a concert put on by Cliff and The Cowboys. Brad’s grandparents don’t know he’s gay, so they have to play just friends again. However, Cliff has a problem with a radio reporter and accidentally drags Brad out of the closet. Will Brad leave Kris just because his grandparents don’t approve?

Book 6: The Cruise—Cliff and Rex take their wedding cruise to Hawaii. Gary Jones flies to Jefferson for his grandparents’ 56th wedding anniversary.

Book 7: Rescue at Smuggler’s Cove—When a storm hits Jefferson, the couple joins Kris’ Dad in the helicopter and rush out to Smuggler’s Cove for the rescue. They are surprised to discover who the victim is.

Book 8: Thunder in Paradise—Jefferson Bank and Trust has a new accounts manager. Just what hold does she have over Brad? In a tearful rage, will Kris take the promotion that he’s offered with ICC, even though it requires him to go to Switzerland for three months?

Book 9: Family Reunion—The Petersons, and Kris, are joined by the Chestnuts as they take a plane to Miami, Florida for the Peterson Family Reunion. Upon returning to Jefferson, they help Garth move in with Dan and they celebrate Katherine Brown’s birthday.

Book 10: The Chronicles of Brad—As a special bonus, we revisit the series from Brad’s POV (Point of View). Find out how Brad felt when he first laid eyes on Kris, and other times when something happened during the series. Plus, he divulges other things that happened when Kris either wasn’t around or didn’t mention.

    Chapter 1

Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen. I know it’s only been a little over five hours since we left Seattle, at ten forty-five p.m. but it’s seven a.m. now and on behalf of American Airlines Flight 6852, we’d like to welcome you to Miami, Florida, Captain Jennings’s voice came over the speaker.

Pressing my body against Brad as I stretched and yawned, I opened my eyes and squinted at the morning sun peaking over the horizon and landing in my eyes when the plane banked.

We’ll be landing in about twenty minutes. The weather is beautiful as always in Miami. It’s a balmy seventy-eight degrees and they’re expecting a high of eighty-five.

Wake up, Sweetheart, I said and kissed him on the cheek.

He had a pillow against the crack between the seat and the wall and had reclined the seat and leaned back into the pillow. I was leaning against him on my side with my head on his shoulder with my feet on the aisle seat next to me. We were thankful the aisle seat had not been occupied, so we were able to be more comfortable.

As Captain Jennings instructed everyone to upright their seats and for the flight attendants to prepare for landing, I set up and removed the blanket from us and folded it up. Brad stretched and sat up, looking out the window as he yawned.

Handing me the pillow, he kissed me and whispered, Morning, Babe.

Morning. I placed the pillow and the blanket on the empty seat next to me and returned my seat to the upright position as did he.

I’m glad it’s been a smooth flight, he said still talking softly.

Me, too, I agreed as Frank and Martha, Brad’s parents, in the row in front of us, up righted their seats.

Good thing we took a nap before going to the airport last night, Brad said.

Yes, it was, I agreed, glancing across the aisle as Kim stood up and adjusted her t-shirt. But I think we got a good four and a half hours of sleep.

I was thankful Kim had worn a t-shirt and a pair of jeans instead of a dress, because she had lain against Chad the same way I had Brad, and her t-shirt had apparently twisted.

She sat back down and buckled her seatbelt, reminding me that Brad and I needed to do that, too, so I did, and Brad noticed and buckled his as the flight attendant came by and picked up our pillow and blanket and continued down the aisle.

I looked over at Kim and she took a deep breath, which I figured was a stifled yawn, and smiled at me. Morning, Kris, she said. How’d you sleep?

Pretty good, I admitted taking Brad’s hand in mine.

I did, too, she replied. But I’d rather have been flat on a bed instead.

I smiled and nodded. Me, too.

Chad leaned forward and smiled at me and I was kind of disappointed that he hadn’t gotten a haircut and shaved his mustache so that he and Brad would be totally identical again. He had let his brown hair grow out just enough that it fell across his forehead and into his eyes and his mustache made him look really hot. I had tried so hard to get Brad to grow one, but he said he didn’t care for facial hair on him or his husband. At least he had soft whiskers and I always got to kiss him in the mornings before he shaved, so that was worth it, at least.

Kim worked with me at ICC – International Computer Company – but she had changed to the two to ten p.m. shift after I’d been there a year, so I didn’t get to see her as often. The previous fall, she had gone with a group to Switzerland and had returned the second week of January, very glad to be home.

Brad had said that she had been pushing for marriage, so he thought Chad would break up with her before they left, but he hadn’t. And it turned out that after she got back, he was waiting for her at ICC to take her home and had taken her out to dinner and proposed.

They had a lovely spring wedding on April 22nd. Brad had been Chad’s best man and they had decided that this trip to Miami for the Peterson Family Reunion would double as their honeymoon. After returning from Switzerland, she was promoted to tier four and, since she was engaged to Chad, she had requested to be moved to the eight to five shift because Chad worked for a software design company and his shift was eight to five. But since she was on another tier, I could only see her during our breaks or lunch since I was still on tier three.

Getting to my feet as the Captain turned off the fasten-seatbelts light, I turned to Kim and said, Well, Mrs. Peterson, are you ready to meet the family that didn’t make it to your wedding?

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone. You? she asked as Brad pressed his body against me, wanting me to move out of the way so he could get our carry-on luggage.

As nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockers.

    She nodded. I imagine.

Brad opened the overhead bin. "But this
