Warning: If you are one of those who doesn’t believe in love at first sight, if you do not believe that someone can love someone so much that they have to hold hands or touch all the time while they’re together, if you think that telling someone I love you every fifteen minutes is mushy, then do not read this series.

    Chris K. writes:

Hey, Mathis! Do the world a favor! Label your stories about Brad and Kris with a warning: If you are hungry for romance and love male sex, don't read these stories! If you do, you'll prolong lunch, neglect errands, sneak time away from chores, read just one more page as you fight sleep, and retire much later than feasible before a workday!

Disclaimer: All of the characters and events, and most of the places, in these stories are fictitious and some of the locations actually wouldn’t work if they did exist. Any resemblance to any person living or dead is purely coincidental. This series was written over a course of several years and the author hopes that you enjoy the collection.

You must be 18 or older to read these stories.

Since this is a series, you need to read them in the order listed.

Cliff's Manager, Michael, sweeps him and his band off on a cross—country tour right into the heart of the Bible Belt, where the fans are few and far between.

    Chapter 1

Hurry, Brad! I called as a knock sounded on the door of our apartment. They’re here.

    Shit. Okay, I’m coming,

I opened the door. A woman in her mid-forties wearing her blonde hair short, stepped in and hugged me.

Sorry we’re late, Kris. Her blue eyes filled with concern as she broke the hug. There’s a traffic jam on the freeway. All the rubberneckers are slowing down everything in both directions, so we might not be able to get to the marina on time. I can’t believe there’s this much traffic on a Saturday morning, anyway.

It’s okay, Mrs. Peterson. It’s a good thing you’re late because Brad is still getting dressed. He had a hole in the pair of shorts he wanted to wear. By the time he realized he was not doing a successful job of sewing them, he decided he better get ready. I was able to mend them while he showered. He should be ready soon.

Are you telling on me, Kris? Brad entered the room pulling a red fishnet shirt on over his head, He wore the tight red shorts I’d mended and a pair of old, worn-out tennis shoes without socks.

    Yes, I am.

He hadn’t blow-dried his hair. His eyes sparkled when he kissed his mother and grinned at me. Don’t believe a word he says, Mom.

She ran her eyes over her youngest son and smiled. I know you too well, Bradley, she said. Kristopher is telling the truth.

Brad picked up the two suitcases waiting by the door. Do we have everything? he changed the subject.

Yes. Except for you, we’re ready.

Brad leaned close to me as his mother started toward the car where his dad waited for us. I’ll get even with you for that remark, Babe, he whispered.

I can’t wait. I gave him a quick peck on the lips.

He jerked back and whipped his head around, looking out the door to make sure no one saw the kiss. His mother blocked his father’s view of us as she walked around the front of the car to get in.

Don’t do that. Remember, they don’t know I’m gay.

Okay, fine. Let’s go. I pushed him out the door and locked it.

Brad’s parents had bought a two-bedroom houseboat the week before and invited us and Brad’s twin brother, Chad, to spend Father’s Day weekend out on the lake. They invited me because Brad and I’d been roommates for almost two years, and they knew we spent most of our time together. This would be an interesting trip since we couldn’t keep our hands off each other.

Mr. Peterson turned in his seat and looked Brad up and down as we climbed into the car. No wonder those shorts had a hole in them, Son, he said. They’re so tight they’ll split if you get a boner. Couldn’t you find any decent clothes to wear?

Thanks, Mom, Brad chided, before turning to his father. We knew she’d told him about the hole in his shorts. You shouldn’t talk like that in front of Mom, Dad.

Mr. Peterson turned around and adjusted his seatbelt. Why not? he asked. She knows what a boner is. Hell, if she didn’t enjoy playing with mine, you wouldn’t be here. I sat behind Mrs. Peterson, so I couldn’t see her reaction, but she didn’t say anything and continued to look forward.

You’d better watch it, Dad, Brad said. If you keep talking like that, she might not want to play with it anymore.

Well, at least maybe dressing like that, some girl on the dock will take an interest in you, he ignored Brad’s comment. Haven’t seen any girls hanging around you since high school. He started the car and drove out into the service road of the freeway.

Brad sighed and shrugged at me. Mrs. Peterson looked out the window.

Hope that frigging wreck’s been cleared by now, Mr. Peterson grumbled.

Why did I get the feeling this trip was a bad idea? I glanced over at Brad. He slumped in the corner behind his father and laid his head on the back of the seat. He spread his legs wide apart, and I could see the outline of the bulge I enjoyed playing with so much through his tight shorts. I smiled as I remembered the first time I saw him. I’d gone to a party at my best friend Dan’s house.

Friday, October 14, 1994 had been a beautiful fall day. I didn’t care for parties, so I wasn’t having fun. Dan told everyone to arrive at nine o’clock that night. Brad walked in about half an hour late, and everyone in the room flocked to him. The evenings, although cool, weren’t yet cold. He wore a black leather jacket, which he left open—his only concession to the cool evening air. His smooth, bronzed chest begged to be touched. He looked like he’d been poured into the skin-tight black shorts that revealed muscular legs. White socks folded down at the top, were a great contrast against a pair of black leather dress shoes he’d polished to a gleaming black which matched the rest of his outfit. He was a hunk. I saw right through him, though. I’d seen guys like him before. Arrive at a party late and expect everyone to flock to him, then push them away while he made his way to the bar, where the bartender—Derrick— handed him a bottle of beer and kissed him on the lips. The hunk glanced over at me and I rolled my eyes, sighed, and looked away.

After an hour or so, Derrick refreshed my soda. While I waited, Brad bumped into me when someone tried to grope him, and Brad dodged his advance.

I’m sorry, he said, trying to catch his balance. He put his arm around my waist and pulled me over to the corner away from the crowd. I am so sorry. Are you okay? he asked. Was that genuine concern in those beautiful brown eyes?

    I’m fine, I replied.

I just hate parties like this, he said, looking around. The guy who tried to grope him, scowled at me and sat down on the edge of a barstool.

Why’d you come then? I asked. I hoped he wouldn’t ask me the same question.

"My friend, Dan, is throwing it, and I didn’t want to hurt his
