Foreword
Prayer is the lifeline to God our Father which connects us in communion, similar to the cord attaching a foetus to his mother in the womb. Prayer is personal and relational between man and his Creator. ‘Prayer is an integral element of all forms of Christian worship, and it is a covenant relationship between God and humanity in Christ.’[1]
‘Prayer is to be offered in the name of the Lord Jesus,’ (Jn. 14: 13). Prayer must align with Jesus’s character according to the Word of God and must be presented in the same spirit of dependence and submission that marked Him, Matthew 11: 26; Luke 22: 42. The Holy Spirit, being the sole interpreter of the needs of the human heart, makes His intercession therein; and prayer is ineffective without His help, Romans 8: 26; believers are therefore exhorted to pray at all seasons in the Spirit, Ephesians 6: 18.[2]
Introduction
