The Group Is Formed
Hi, boys and girls. Do you have a little dog or a couple of dogs? Maybe even big dogs? Do they make a racket whenever they welcome you home? Do they set up a tremendous din in their eagerness to bark ‘hello’ because they have missed you? Or is it because they want to be welcoming to someone new to their home?
303039_INT_FNL_01.jpgThere are six little dogs who live together in a house with a large ten-acre garden. They are a happy lot and spend their time together, exploring this or checking and investigating that. When all their work is finished, some of them play together.
The Noisemakers set up a big noise whenever anyone gets home. It is so loud that a person cannot hear himself think.
In the beginning they all used to make such a noise, with everyone barking at once, that they were always being shouted at to be quiet! This carried on until one day Lolly called them all together and told them they sounded terrible.
‘But what can we do?’ they all asked, very worried.
‘I don’t know just now, let’s give it some thought,’ said Lolly.
.
They all thought and thought but nothing came. Then Lolly thought once more and came up with a brilliant idea! They would form a group and practise their barking! They would add some sort of music form to their barking and they would structure their barking.
Mickey would bark bass, Snoopy would do the tenor bits, and Lolly the soprano pieces. Mitzi, Shareen, and Dinky would take care of the choruses.
Once it was decided that it would be better if they formed a group and structured their barking, they all decided they liked the idea.
‘My stage name will be Elvis Dog,’ said Mickey as he tried to wiggle his hind legs.
‘And I will be Michael Jackson Dog,’ squeaked Snoopy in a very bad falsetto voice.
‘Come on, sillies, we won’t be performing on stage,’ said Lolly.
‘Ah, but you never know,’ mumbled Mickey, a little crestfallen.
Once they all had their different barking parts worked out, they practised them and people never shouted at them any more. They listened and admired them.
The Noisemakers Group is made up of Lolly, the soprano and leader Mickey, the bass barker Snoopy, the tenor barker Shareen,
