    1. A Cat Named Leo Gets Stuck on a Telephone Pole.

If you have a cat for a friend, many people feel it is strange. That is why I did not want a cat for a friend – not until I met Leo.

It happened one Saturday afternoon when I was walking down the street by myself. My mother was visiting a friend of hers and my friend Laura was visiting a friend of hers too. Laura’s friend is 5 and so I think she is too small to play with. And there aren’t any kids just my age. I was walking down the streets feeling lonely.

Two blocks from my house I heard a cry of a cat. Since the area was very quiet, it was very clear to me the sound of what I heard, however; I did not seem to know where the cry was coming from. After listening to the cat cry for the fourth time, I realized the cat was stuck on a telephone pole.

When I realized it at first, I was very surprised because I was scared too and wondered how it got there. However; I gathered the courage to knock on the door of Mr. Cooper, a lovely old man in our neighborhood. He came out all smiles and asked me why I was looking so worried and at his door alone.

I told and showed him the cat on the telephone pole now crying loud for all to hear. He was touched also and called the animal shelter in town. Luckily, they were able to send a truck out, and out came the man from the  truck, he was rushing to help ensure that the cat was safe.

After the cat was safely removed from the telephone pole, I was told it was named Leo and that it belonged to a 4 year old girl named Joyce, whose family had announced it missing about a week ago. I was very sad when I heard that because; for once I thought I could have Leo as my best friend for life. Watching Leo cry from the telephone pole touched my heart and I felt like taking care of him.

Mr. Cooper realizing I had grown affectionate with the cat asked me what the problem was, but I told him nothing. He smiled and shook his head. The people from the animal shelter took Leo away to their shelter and I said goodbye to Mr. Cooper only to move on with my boring walk.

Surprisingly, I was still thinking about Leo and wished every second to have him as my cat and best friend for life. I got home and my mother was not yet back so I turned on the television and poured myself a cup of milk only to start thinking of Leo the cat again.

Two days after the incident, I went to the animal shelter where I knew Leo was sent to in order to check up on him and that was where I had the most exciting news of my life! Yes, upon reaching the haven, I heard two officers that work there talk about Leo going up for sale to any family who wants to buy him.

All of a sudden, I was filled with so much excitement! Yes, this excitement was special because; I had not felt like this in a very long while. I ran home but on my way home, I happened to meet Mr. Cooper and had to greet him so I did. He realized the excitement in my eyes and asked me what the news was.

So, I told him Leo was going up for sale at the haven and he smiled and said that was great news. I told my mother about wanting Leo and although she was surprised she wondered what was very special about Leo that took my entire attention.

I was able to convince her to go to the animal haven with me on Saturday. As we get to the haven, we are greeted by so many beautiful animals, especially bright looking cats with beautiful eyes. However; it was Leo I wanted. We talked to the lady in charge and Leo was brought out to us, that was when we were told the story of Leo the cat I had fallen madly in love with.

Leo was said to have an addiction or habit to getting stuck on telephone poles from time to time. However; what makes or made his telephone pole story unique is the fact that; he always gets a new home to live in after his rescue.

The woman in charge narrated to my mother and I how he got stuck on a telephone pole some 2 years ago and almost died, but that unfortunate situation got him to live with a very great family that loved him so much!

We were told of another instance; where Leo almost died due to an electric shock while stuck on the telephone pole. After all we had heard, I told the woman in charge of my own experience of the telephone pole with Leo and how I fell in love with him after that.

She then smiled and said then you are the next owner – I think Leo chooses his own care givers. My mother was now much convinced and although she was not ready to buy Leo for me that very day, she did buy him for me.

On our way home, I was filled with excitement and sang while I rubbed the fur on Leo’s body. I could feel Leo was also happy about going home with us so he kept on jumping on me and turning for me to rub my fingers in his fur.

When we got to Mr. Cooper’s junction, I saw him taking his garbage out so I asked mother to give us a few minutes. When I got out from the car he stared and said, why did you rescue Leo from another telephone pole? I smile and said no, he is now my cat?

    Mr. Cooper smiled and
