    Praise for Finding Zero

From the very first chapter, I was already seeing things differently and experiencing how I understood human potential at a whole other level. This was very humbling for me as I have been in this field myself for almost a decade and Chris allowed me to explore further depths into human potential so elegantly and practically too.

—Lauren Jobson, vice chair of the Australian Board of Neuro Linguistic Programming, http://www.lovelifewithlauren.com.au/

Finding Zero is perfect for those of you who long to find a purposeful and meaningful life. You will be immersed under Chris’s world from the very first chapter and be brought along through his journey in the manifestation of the meaning of life. Follow his mentorship cues closely and you will find this book very applicable to your daily life!

—Victor Setiawan, young author of national best-selling book Changing Impossible to I’mpossible

I have known Chris for quite a few years, and on one occasion, I trained with him. I can attest to his passion of which he writes and the professionalism he brings in creating this book. I had difficulty in putting the book down once I started reading it. Chris has taken a remarkably difficult topic and put it into a language that should be easily understood by all readers. Chris draws heavily on his neurolinguistic programming (NLP) skills and has been able to explain the meaning of many NLP techniques in a way that is both easily understandable and useable by all. His metaphors and way of thinking and looking at life in general are quite remarkable, and I am fairly certain that every reader will resonate with all he says. His explanations of reality and the communication model are brilliant, and if you think you know all about reality, then Chris’s explanations will amaze you.

So you believe that you are hard done by and that maybe life is unfair. Well, if you have any belief that is holding you back, then you really need to read and apply what Chris has to say about beliefs and how to change them. If you ever wondered why your life is the way it is, then this book is a must. If you have ever thought, Is there a better way? then this book is a must. If you want to have an understanding on what life is all about, then this book is must. I am a master of NLP and hypnosis and Timeline Therapy, and whilst I have put a lot of time and study into learning my craft, I can say with total sincerity the words of Chris will make all people like me better at what we do, through the application of his insight and way of explaining complex theory into a practical way of doing. I believe that no matter who you are or what you do, or what you have or don’t have, reading and digesting the contents of Chris’s book will improve your life in ways you cannot believe possible. I commend this book to one and all.

—Dennis Greig, NLP, hypnosis and Timeline Therapy master coach, www.mindurmind.com.au

Chris is an amazing and influential Trainer, Coach, and Human being. During our times training together, he has shown fantastic knowledge, passion, and authenticity in what he does. As a Client, that is what you ask for, and Chris delivers that in spades. I am sure that he will continue to expand on his already high level acumen, to the benefit of all those who come within his magical circle of influence! I highly recommend Chris, and look forward to further collaborations with him in the future.

    —David Giang, founder http://nlpapac.com

Most people want more abundance in their life but struggle to know where to start. Finding Zero allows you to better understand your mind to flick the success switch and re-set your old limiting defaults and paradigms. Chris’ writing style opens your mind in a non-confronting way to receive new information, ideas & possibilities.

Marcus Schubert, Entrepreneur Business Coach, www.marcusschubert.info

Reading Finding Zero felt like a roller-coaster ride crossed with a homecoming—at times intense, exciting, surprising, and comforting—all rolled into one trip! Chris takes you on a wonderful journey into spirituality, metaphysics, and unfolding your personal power. A truly great read for disciples on the path of personal growth.

—Jamie Loh, senior director with Agel Enterprises

I was hooked on this book from paragraph 1! Chris Lianos has done a fantastic job in not only explaining why success in life happens but also how it can be realised for all of us. He has a genuinely persuasive way of helping his readers understand the logic behind every idea he shares, and every suggestion comes with a unique story that helps us realise how true it really is. Finding Zero will challenge you to think outside your current mental boundaries and explore what could potentially be a richer and happier life. It is a journey that Chris has taken in his life and joyfully shares with others, hoping all of us can follow the path. It simply left me inspired to be more, do more, and give more. For that, Chris, I thank you.

—Faouzi Dhaghastani, professional network marketer, www.GetTheInfoNow.com.au

Reading Chris Lianos’s book Finding Zero helped me realise that I am holding myself back in areas of my life where I thought I was doing well, opening up a path for me to move my life from ordinary to exceptional. From the holistic to the scientific, Chris explains how the human psyche stops itself from greatness and shows you the possibilities of your life with brand-new eyes. But he doesn’t just talk at you. In Finding Zero, Chris includes exercises in every chapter to cement the principles discussed and help you gain your emotional freedom to move beyond your own personal, self-imposed boundaries to create the best version of yourself you can be and find your own personal Zero.

    —Andrie Skarparis

I thoroughly enjoyed your book. I am actually doing what you said for the past ten months. Until you do work out that you and only you have control of your life, and no one can influence any decisions in your life, are you then free of all the negativity that weighs you down. In saying that you still get your heart and spirit broken but when you remind yourself of what you believe in you can guide yourself in the right direction again. I think of my life now as a wave. I ride the wave with my family to the unknown destination, but along the way, people drop off and others enter like the circle of life. Your book will help people and guide them to that better place, and you should be proud of knowing that. An amazing read from an amazing human being.

For my wife, Aleni, the most amazing and inspiring woman I know. She taught me that the challenges of life do not have to become the challenges of self, that inspiration and beauty can exist within every moment, no matter what we face, and that love and acceptance are ultimately all we need.

Without her, this book would never have arrived.

Thank you, my love. You are everything to me.

It is not just in the mind that one can believe and think, but it is within the heart that one can feel their way. When the pathway is open, there is nothing that is impossible and all is possible.

Everything that is asking can be received. Wish not what you do not, but only of that which is of want.

Say yes to life and all the gifts.

Let’s not look back on days gone by and wonder in the why.

Look to here and now to see that life is full and you are free to live.

    —Aleni Matsas

Be still, and know that I am God.

    —Psalm 46:10

    Preface

I wrote Finding Zero to sit as a beacon of hope, a reminder to us all that we are powerful beyond measure, that we have capacities and talents yet unexplored.

    It is possible to change.

It is possible to shed the skin of a belief system that no longer serves us.

There are powers in this universe that transcend our understanding. Physical laws we believed to be real we now know to be false.

We are evolving every day, and through this come a greater acceptance and appreciation, a curiosity, of the way the universe works.

Throughout this book, I will reference my belief that we are all divine expressions of universal consciousness. Sometimes, I will refer to this as God, other times as divinity or simply as consciousness. This may not fit your belief system. The wording is not important, so please feel free to substitute these references with whatever your particular beliefs are. This book challenges the very nature of reality and our place within it. Whatever you believe—be it a faith of Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, or any (or none)—I welcome you as an expression of what is possible in the universe. The themes of this book are universal strictures of abundance, peace, possibility, love, forgiveness, and our ability to shape our reality for the betterment of all of humankind.

It is my hope and intent that the words in this book spark a conversation about our limitless potential to affect positive change across the earth.

Thanks for taking the journey with me.

    Much love.

    Acknowledgements

No book ever writes itself, even though the act of writing is a lonely one. For this reason, I would like to extend my thanks to the following people who have contributed in one fashion or another to the final product.

Firstly, to my wife, Aleni, the rock and inspiration in my life, who has believed in me and my message from the start. Truthfully, this book would never have been completed without her enduring encouragement, faith, and love.

To all my family and friends who have supported me through the years, thank you. To Andrie Skarparis, thank you for your red pen. I think you enjoyed it way too much.

A special thank you to one Steven Czeiger. He knows why.

To Mr. Green, my high school English teacher who encouraged me to write, one giant thank-you.

To the wonderful people at Balboa Press, thank you.

And finally, to my mentors and inspirations through the years: Randy Gage, Dr. Wayne Dyer, Marianne Williamson, The teachings of Abraham, Deepak Chopra, Paulo Coelho, Eckhart Tolle, Tad and Adriana James, Neale Donald Walsch, Michael A Singer, Tony Robbins, Eric Butterworth, Richard Bandler, Napoleon Hill, and the hundreds more I could list but have no room for. Thank you for the vision, wisdom, and insights that have made me who I am.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

God, I am your vessel. Let your words flow through my fingers.

    Introduction

    What is reality?

It is the eternal question of life. Reality is not some predefined, concrete explanation of what we see, nor is it a formula that explains how the electron moves. Reality is not about science or religion. Reality is something we discover, a secret that if finally understood could explain the great question of why we are here.

Have you ever wondered how there can be so many ways to look at the world? Which idea, theory, or explanation will finally form the basis for the conclusion that will unify us? Have you ever sat down and really considered why we have so many religions, why we have so many wars, why we seem to be in conflict with someone or something consistently? It all comes down to this question of reality and an understanding of the way the world, the universe, and you and I work.

Reality is one of the mysteries of science. No one can explain how this moment exists. We have an understanding of history, physical laws, and events that sprout life. But what creates this instant, this movement of space and time we call life?

An old question is often a fascinating one. If a tree fell in the woods and there was nobody there to see it, would it make a sound? Now logically, we would say yes. Yet, how do we really know? You might think it a ridiculous question. Sound is real after all, and a tree falling would definitely make a sound, wouldn’t it?

Does the sound exist if you are not there to hear it?

I often joke that the movie The Matrix was a documentary. We are all inside a movie theatre and wearing 3D glasses so advanced they immerse us into the film, engaging every one of our five senses. If the end credits did not roll, we would never know the illusion was over.

Reality is not real. It is a dream of our own making, a highly interactive, addictive, and resistant dream. It does not want us to wake up, or more precisely, the part of us running the dream does not want us to wake up. If we did, if we awakened from the limitations of our own creation, we would see the world, and us, for what it is.

We would know we are divine.

We would recognise this as our Eden.

I wrote this book for the seeker, for the student, for the one who is about to give up. Do you know what frustrates you the most about your business or life? Do you have clarity over what you want to accomplish in the next twelve months? Do you know what you need to do to double your business or happiness? I ask you this so you may start thinking about these important concepts. No self-help book is complete unless it can take you, the reader, on a journey to a place you are longing to find. In Finding Zero, I offer you that journey and a promise that I am there with you. This is not just a book for me. It is the culmination of a twenty-year dream and ten years of intensive study and application of the principles within it.

What makes this book different from others you may have read is the amalgamation of two distinct and very different modalities: NLP and metaphysics.

NLP (neurolinguistic programming) is the study of excellence. What do the most successful people do in their minds (neuro), how do they speak (linguistic), and what repetitive patterns (programming) do they do to achieve their success? Metaphysics is the study of the universe beyond what you can see, beyond the veil of illusion that covers your eyes.

You’ll notice that we get straight into it. I’m interested in results for you, not in one hundred pages of theory. Stick with me, and I promise that the way you see the world will change.

Let us discover how you think, what drives your behaviour, and how you can change it.

Let us discover what you need to focus on to guarantee success in your field of expertise and the prosperity laws you absolutely must know to succeed.

You are more than you have believed.

Let us find out how much more.

Welcome to the Finding Zero experience.

    PART

    1

    THE PATH TO ZERO

A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined primarily by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive.

    —Albert Einstein 1879–1955

    CHAPTER 1

    The Magic of 134

The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper.

    —WB Yeats

    39849.png

Our world is a magical place.

It’s filled with sounds, sights, and experiences that have imbued us with everything from surprise to awe to horror—everything from a walk on the beach to the setting of the sun to that first kiss.

What makes it magical is, in fact, the variety of experience. It’s the longing for the taste of the dessert; the feel of his or her hand in yours; the expectation of a great movie, book, or play. These experiences make up every passing moment of our lives.
