Introduction
Emmanuel, at a young age attended a school in Uvira Congo. It was not until the civil war that broke in Congo and everything lost meaning for Emmanuel. His father was mercilessly butchered at the war, and in the midst of the whole confussion, his family fled to Canada while he was still in school one afternoon.
Emmanuel struggled alone. Fear and frustrations became the order of the day. For survival and for his own security he moved from one refugee camp to another. In 1996, he finally settled in Nyarugusu refugee camp in Tanzania.
In Tanzania, life was not easy either. A camp that had many refugees from Congo too, he had to learn how to survive and continue with his education. He made new friends and one of them was Rehema who was his classmate in the refugee camp. They both assisted each other in revising for all subjects. As they had a custom of revising together, one evening these two friends made love, though it was not Emmanuel’s idea.
The following morning they went to school. They all sat for the test. Emmanuel passed the test but Rehema failed the test. When Rehema found out that she had failed the test she went to talk to her mathematics teacher.
