Chapter 1
Chase was a selfish man, to say the least. If it wasn’t about him, he wasn’t about anything. He was beautiful, with hair like gold silk flowing down his back, just barely grazing the top of his buttocks. He had this arrogant way about him, as if, he was too good for the world. He kept odd jobs for only weeks at a time, if that, even his four children never seemed to keep his attention for very long.
He always had a way with words. Chase was a womanizer, filling women’s head with whatever lies they wanted to hear. To manipulate these women and use things to his advantage. He would convince women to sleep with him and take their money, all their money, and then forget them. His bills where always paid by the women he was dealing with at the time. Chase was responsible for the bills in his home. Telling his mother he’d take care of the light bill or any other bill meant a random woman taking care of it for him.
Women weren’t the only ones paying for things. Chase went both ways; he was bisexual. He had a partner for twenty five years who did everything for him. All he asked for came true, and all he did was use him for sex and money. He had the nastiest attitude; sometimes you couldn’t even speak to him. In his crazy little mind Chase believed he was on top of the world.
Chase was a good lover when it came to sex, I could say. But he definitely needed to improve his way of being with people. He just liked using people anyway he could. He got married just to secure a roof over his head. I mean, he told me that he didn’t even love his wife. That he was just there because he didn’t have anywhere else to go. It’s so sad, the way he is. We had been around each other since fourth grade. We went to CS 44 in the Bronx and were brought up on Prospect Avenue.
He’s a nice person, if you have something to offer him. He was always a player, and his motto was always very my way or the highway.
One thing was for sure; Chase could hold a grudge. If you did something to him, he would never let you forget it nor forgive you. He would hold it against you and throw it in your face as much as he could. He had fine taste and liked to dress nice on someone else’s account. He never liked paying for anything. All he liked doing was smoking weed and drinking, or should I say live the party life, yeah.
How old is Chase? Thirty-two years old; he’ll be thirty-three on December 10, 2007. I’m sure he will be partying all the way, like always.
Do you know Mamota?
No? Well, call me Mamota. You could say I was a good friend of Chase. Let me tell you a little about us.
You could say we were lovers on the down low, really. Yeah, I would do anything for him. I was so in love with him, it wasn’t even funny. I would give him everything he asked for. Love is crazy.
There was a time that I was so in love with Chase that I would spend over $700 a week just to be with him. The sex was so good, and he would say the days were all about us. When I used to travel overseas, Chase was all I thought of. I would come back with gifts just for him. I went all out for him, helping with his family and household needs. If he needed bills paid, who covered the bills? I did, most of the time.
Dolores, Chase’s wife, knew about me and would sometimes ask about the way we were involved. I don’t know whether Chase chose to admit his affair with me or not. But I doubt it. After so many years of being with him, don’t you think she would get a clue what was going on between me and her husband? If she doesn’t, in due time she will. Chase will always be a player.
He would sleep with many women in my home. The love I have for Chase was so strong, I put up with the women because it pleased him. After a while, I had enough. I confronted Chase and said No more, Chase!
I screamed in protest.
No more what?
he replied.
You bringing women to my house as if this was a damn hotel!
What? You’re crazy, Mamota.
No, I’m not crazy!
The back-and-forth continued until Chase finally said, Well, if you want to continue what we have you wouldn’t have a problem who I bring to your house.
I just told him, I guess you should leave then.
Chase was so angry that he broke some things in the house before he left. He had been on parole, so there wasn’t much he could do.
As time passed and Chase’s funds grew low, he returned to me, who allowed him to come back because I was still so in love with him.
I was so true to Chase and saw this as a chance to start over. I even purchased a store for him, making it clear beforehand that Chase would not abuse my kindness and walk away afterward.
I remember telling him Don’t have me open up this shop and you end up turning me down and walking away like always.
Chase assured me that he wouldn’t.
No, I will stay with you all the way. I’ll make sure it works out for us, baby.
Well, don’t you know that after I opened that shop, Chase worked there for three days and left?
People in the area had been talking about me owning the shop and what that meant about the two of us.
Some people would ask him Mamota owns that place? Why are you working for him? Don’t you know you’re making it clear that the two of you are lovers?
So of course, he would get upset. In one particular incident a family member of Chase confronted him about him working so close with me. She was so upset that Chase would not go into business with her. After working with me a few days, he was so worried about what people would say about him. Little did he know the whole area knew about him, including most of his friends, especially when he would say, Mamota is my bitch.
He wasn’t fooling anybody. Chase was under the impression that I had started all the rumors, but he had just been in denial and never could take responsibility for his actions. He had started all the rumors himself.
One time, while engaged in an argument in public, Chase assaulted me from behind and hit me when I wasn’t looking. If you asked me, it was pretty fucked up. After everything I did for him, I didn’t deserve to be treated that way. I was so nice to him and went above and beyond for him. To this day, I am still deeply in love with Chase and would do anything for him, if
