ONE DAY AS I WAS WORKING on a new song, I got a call from a close friend. He is an evangelist and pastor who has a calling to evangelize and minister in the United Kingdom and to build churches and train pastors in South Africa. My friend had an idea to start an online Bible college, primarily to ground the pastors in the essentials of God’s Word. He asked me if I would consider writing short studies for the college to help teach these pastors. I agreed to write one study, after which I would then decide if I would continue. My emphasis would be on the word of faith gospel, and our authority in Christ. This is something that I have seen a desperate need for in the body of Christ over the past forty-two years. Too many Christians are ignorant of God’s Word and are living defeated lives, being subjected to all kinds of evil…sickness, disease, poverty, crime, accidents, and disasters. So, after writing the first study, I didn’t stop. I kept writing until all the topics that make a strong, victorious, and mature word of faith Christian were covered. Eventually, the Lord’s purpose for these studies was revealed to me. I was to write a handbook for all Christians…and here we are.

Introduction

WHAT IS WALKING IN THE SUPERNATURAL?

Walking in the supernatural is being led by the Holy Spirit and doing the things that Jesus did with manifestations of the power of the Holy Spirit. It is living our lives by faith according to God’s Word, with complete trust and total dependence on God for everything in our lives. It is an understanding that as an ambassador, minister, and warrior, you have the authority, in the name of Jesus, to supernaturally change lives, circumstances, and situations around you by faith according to God’s will, which is the Holy Bible. This happens as you are being transformed into His image through developing your relationship with God and exercising your faith. It takes time and commitment on your part, by spending consistent time with the Lord in prayer, in His Word (study, meditation, confession) and in worship. This book will teach you what to do and how to do it. It is made up of topical studies that are brief and to the point. Obviously, volumes more could be (and have been) written on each topic, but these studies will get you started on the essentials for every Christian.

As a Christian, you can attend church all of your life and never learn to live a supernatural life through Jesus Christ. The Bible tells us to live by faith. Understanding exactly what that means is the key to living a supernatural life. Unfortunately, many churches don’t teach these fundamental truths from God’s Word.

So how did this happen? Why are truths from God’s Word disregarded? It’s as if there is a spiritual blindness. In fact, Christian ministers have even opposed these truths from the Bible regarding living by faith—living in the supernatural. But this is doing the works of Jesus according to his Word! It is taking God at his word and applying His truths to our daily lives, accepting all of His benefits, and standing on the promises guaranteed in His Word. Why is there such contention here? Why don’t all Christians believe and seek to live in the victory Jesus paid for with His blood? I believe the answer to this question is … Satan has done his job well and has deceived many.

Many years ago, I heard a minister offer an opinion regarding the condition of many present-day Christian churches. He said that back in the first century when the Christian church was in its infancy, Satan was doing his utmost to destroy it and keep it from spreading. Persecution in various forms, including having Christians thrown to the lions, was Satan’s plan to stamp out fledgling Christianity. But the plan backfired. In spite of the horrible persecution, Christians continued to multiply in greater numbers. So, Satan changed his strategy and his tactics. Along with outwardly attacking the church, he joined the church. And to this very day, Satan influences men’s decisions in the church to keep it ineffectual, with the ultimate goal of destroying it from within. Why? This is what I believe: through lies and deception, Satan keeps Christians weak—divided, ignorant, and in unbelief. Satan does not want Christians to know who they are in Christ because through their faith and authority in the name of Jesus, they pose a threat to him and his evil purpose.

The end result is that many Christians don’t know who they are in Christ; they don’t know everything Jesus paid for; they don’t know the authority they have in the name of Jesus; they don’t know their spiritual weapons; they don’t know their enemy; they don’t know they are to live in victory, prosper, and be successful in every area of their lives. And they don’t know that living by faith means that situations and circumstances around them are subject to change as they release their faith according to God’s will.

As you read, you will see how much each study is related to the others and that there is much repetition throughout the book. This is important, and it is written this way deliberately. Even though most of the studies in this book are brief, there is much to take in, and it will require multiple readings for them to fully sink in. Don’t skip over anything. If you commit to doing what this handbook teaches, then you will know who you are in Christ, and you will live in the victory that Jesus paid for. Your life will be exciting and fulfilled as you walk in the supernatural as an Ambassador, Minister, and Warrior for Jesus Christ!

CHAPTER 1

Who We Are in Christ

Ambassadors, Ministers, and Warriors!

Authority as an Ambassador

We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.

(2 Corinthians 5:20)

WE ARE AMBASSADORS OF JESUS CHRIST - ambassadors from God. What an honor! Having worked in an American embassy overseas, I have seen firsthand that an ambassador is a direct representative of the President of the United States. He has the authority to speak and act on behalf of the President and the American people, with the full backing and power of the United States of America. As Christ’s ambassadors, we have the authority, in the name of Jesus Christ, to speak and act as a representative of God, with the full backing of Heaven, where we are citizens. But our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20).

As Christ’s ambassadors, we come bearing free gifts from our King Jesus. To name a few: words of love, acts of compassion, words of knowledge and wisdom, healings, deliverance, and the greatest gift…eternal life. So, you see how important the appointment of an Ambassador is. As Ambassadors, we are the image of Jesus Christ representing God who sent us - doing the will of the Father and advancing the kingdom of God on the earth.

Authority as a Minister

All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. (2 Corinthians 5:18)

We are ministers of the Most High God. We are ministers motivated by the love of Jesus Christ. As ministers, we have the authority to lead people to salvation in Jesus Christ. In the name of Jesus, we minister healing to the sick. We minister comfort to the brokenhearted. We minister hope to the depressed. We minister deliverance to the oppressed. We minister compassion and tangible help to the poor. As ministers in the name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit, we pray for people and see results. Whatever situation it may be, by faith we are to minister to people’s needs and expect supernatural results, in the name of Jesus!

Authority as a Warrior

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. (Ephesians 6:10–18)

We are warriors! Only warriors put on armor and carry weapons. As warriors, we have the authority to wear armor and use weapons to defeat the enemy. Second Corinthians 10:3–4 says: For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of this world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We have spiritual weapons to defeat our spiritual enemy, who is Satan and his demonic forces. They have been responsible for every kind of evil on the earth since the beginning of time. We have the authority, in the name of Jesus Christ, with the power of the Holy Spirit and backed by the mighty angels of Heaven…to stop Satan from stealing, killing and destroying.

As warriors we put on our armor, and we take up our weapons:

1. Our sword is God’s Word, which we confess - speak out of our mouths with authority and complete confidence, knowing God backs up His Word, which is supernatural. He said that He will watch over His Word to perform it. (See Jeremiah 1:12). It is alive, active, and sharper than a double-edged sword. (See Hebrews 4:12). The Word spoken in faith does not return void, but accomplishes its purpose. (See Isaiah 55:11).

2. Our shield - which is our faith: We lift our shield of faith, we take our stand, and we don’t back down … because we know God honors our faith, and He will never forsake or leave us. (See Deuteronomy 31:8 & Hebrews 13:5) Never give up and never quit! We always have the victory through
